plunging fire means cleveland shells coming down into the deck and most bb's have 32mm deck armour. shatters are from side of ship or hitting turrets. EOP is a must on USN light cruisers. fires are good when you have multiple targets, but they're no longer the primary source of damage. chappy/kutusov also got a buff from moving EOP to legendary, as they can now run EOP and Punch Thru. I've hit dev strikes on broadside cruisers at 16km. difference between russian and usn is the map. smoke n range -vs- islands. personally i think russians are stronger because torps can defend against being rushed.

A fair point. And I figured most BBs have 32mm deck armor. I thought the shatters might be coming from hits on things like the turrets

@@Xarkun Yup ! The poster above has it right. The shatters are, as you guessed Xarkun, mostly from the shells striking the Turret Roofs on most of those ships, and in some select cases, they have small strips of armoring around the edge of the super-structure, that are like 35-mm or so (only in a few oddball cases). However, an armored Behemoth like Grosser Kurfurst has 50-mm deck armoring (very strong) and Yamato's is even stronger at 50-mm for the Fore End Deck (just back from the Bow, around the two front turrets) and the central deck around the 19-mm Superstructure is a huge 57-mm's ! The 57-mm part is actually thick enough to shatter German or Japanese 203-mm HE (from their Heavy Cruisers), even with their vaunted 1/4 Pen Adjustment . So don't be shocked if you see Shatters (even with IFHE / Equilibrium) when firing against the Legends -- your only real chance is striking the relatively small 32-mm Bow and Stern sections -- or the (more likely) 19-mm central Superstructures :-) // actually, this video I found for you could be handy, Lord Xarkun -- as it features (the first 7-minutes of it, at least), a guy going Extremely detailed over the Armor Layout of the Grosser. I really enjoy not have torps means BBs are tempted to rush you and makes for much more interesting situations , I have played a lot of cruisers though

Watching you melt that Gneisenau reminds me of why I love my Nurnberg so much. Sixteen point, level 2 legendary Von Muller on there. Four-to-six thousand damage AP salvoes every 5.7 seconds into the broadside of BBs gets their attention in a hurry.

I agree that Kutuzov and Chapayev are easier to play than Cleveland. Main difference is Cleveland is better at contesting capture circles than the Russian cruisers and thus can affect the outcome of the game more. Great review as always.

I think the nature of the Cleveland’s shells requires you to be closer, which in turn kind of forces you to get into positions where you have the potential to be more influential

No wonder I've seen so many Cleveland players getting high caliber medals and topping the results on the base xp screen. Pretty sure JB is mostly covered with 32mm armor. So any shatters when hitting the JB are probably from hitting the guns or turret faces. This skill itself is kind of a nerf to JB. As a side note- I feel like the Russian DDs on PC were balanced around IFHE. So us not having access to IFHE for DDs is part of what makes the tier 5 and 6 Russian DDs kind of meh. That and so many of our gun boosting skills kill mobility which is what the Russian and French DDs rely on

Scott is definitely the best for usn light cruisers because usn LC has good turrets traverse and don’t need to buff them and EQP is now the main reason scott is the man for Cleveland.

IFHE on PC cuts your fire chance down by HALF. I don’t know who made this choice for only 2% but they need to re evaluate their decision.

Originally on PC it was 2%. It was a recent change that increased it to 50%. Not sure why console has to go through the same growing pains as PC. IMO all stats and buffs and nerfs should be updated to reflect the lessons learned on PC.

That's why Firestarters need to go and be targeted every good chance you get. I remember when cruisers weren't as revered. Now they truly have power. As a BB captain though, they'll never outsmart me. 😃

Meantime: BBs are shooting full salvo on broadside cruisers and get 5 overpens and 4k damage from 6km. This game is turning into no skill HE spam like PC version. I'm a cruiser captain btw.

Regardless of EoP, you should shoot AP more. Could have killed that Atlanta and Atago and lived in that first clip with another 8 or 10 AP salvos. I shoot AP at Atlantas at almost any angle and it wrecks them. And as soon as that Atago even started to turn a swap to AP would have killed him in 2-3 salvos

I thought I was actively switching to AP many times on that Atago when he was giving enough broadside? And I did initially use AP on that Atlanta but it wasn’t doing as much as the HE did.

At 3:10 you swapped to HE right as Atlanta was giving it up

You did switch fairly well early with Atago. 6:50 though swapping for AP would have killed him in 2-3 volleys and kept you alive. Mean no offense with this. Its just how I rewatch games now including my own

Gareth Mugford yea I know she’s a light cruiser. But i was wondering because some of the other high tier light cruisers have good bow armor. Edi has the 32mm and I think Chapy has 27mm

It’s not like the Chapayev or Edinburgh. Any battleship is going to overmatch you. I think the bow can deflect cruiser caliber AP, but that’s about it. You don’t want to take shots in it

Gun reload mod in the fourth mod slot. I’d recommend taking that over any of the others.
