What a great honest video Mike, as always I really enjoyed it, I do suffer from anxiety and stress, at the moment mine is through the roof, every 6 months I have to go for a CT scan to check whether I'm still cancer free, and from a few days before the scan until the results, my head is all over the place, and like you I find just spending time outside really does help, Mike I wouldn't worry about your intro you naturally come across as very warm and welcoming also very genuine, you have a great personality and are very engaging also 👍👌 thanks again for the mention and kind words 😊

Cheers Mick, your comment is also very much appreciated. I can well imagine what you go through with the anticipation of the CT scan. At least we've both found some comfort and healing in nature. I think that the more we talk openly about how we feel and allow our vulnerability to be shown the easier it is for others to talk about how they feel. On another note, how's the house hunting going?

Very honest Mike. I'm a devotee of being out in nature for both peace and tranquillity as well as keep active, fit and well. Look forward to meeting up with you in August.

Definitely relate to what you're saying. As someone who suffers from horrible bouts of depression and anxiety I too find myself calming right down once out in the sticks, whether that's hiking or camping or even just a quick hour in local woods. You are far better at chatting to camera than I am. I waffle all sorts of rubbish and fluff my words lol. Nice vid 🙂

Thank you. I think that we can all benefit from being more open and vulnerable regarding our mental health. You're very kind regarding chatting to the camera. A lot of what I record gets dumped in the bin. I'm a bit more organised now regarding what I'm going to say... not word for word, but just the general theme of each element. Thanks again, Mike

One of the only videos I've wanted to listen to tonight Mike. So good to hear about your journey and yes it's not to big yourself up but to invoke dialogue and discussion because that helps. For sure nature is pure energy - it's just mot corrupt and we can get along with that. I feel like doing a respond video-thanks Mike. Take care out there. Mark

Cheers Mark, it's been an interesting journey for me. It's interesting in that verbalising how i feel and how I felt as a child provides me with a clearer lens on the present. It also provides a greater context on why i've done certain things in life the way i have. My hope is that this video resonates with at least one person in a way that helps them. Looking forward to watching your respond video if you do it. Thanks, for the continued support. Mike

@@OutdoorWithMike A pleasure Mike. Yes, interesting and multi-dimensional always shifting this way and that. For sure it gets clearer as we explore it. I may take my camera out on the Wye today and talk and see how it turns out. Peace.

Thanks for the comment. It's recorded on a GoPro Hero 11 and then edited with Final Cut Pro. I have the GoPro recording at 5.3K, but all the colour grading etc is done in FCP. What do you currently use? I started off just using my phone, first an Android then an iPhone.

@@OutdoorWithMike Thanks! It's fair to middling I'd say at the moment. Really wanting to go for a camping trip north of the city (maybe Algonquin Provincial Park), while juggling a job search too. It's quite hot here too. I live just outside of the downtown area, so some nice city parks around. I used to blog about bushcraft and nature and such at mungosaysbah.com, but haven't updated the blog in years. Perhaps I ought to get to it, need a bit of therapy myself, it's been a rough few years for me. Still, I know where to go and who to see if I do need help. Nature is very helpful for me too. Talk therapy has been super effective too. Have you made it to Canada before? Simon.

@@ihearsimon Yes, I spent a year near Medicine Hat, Alberta back in 1989/90. I loved the place, the people and the vast amount of space. I've found that recording videos and spending time outside in nature has been great in helping me. You should certainly get yourself out again and also start blogging again. Good luck with the job search.
