Tim Murray went HARD for McDavid that year. I remember him on tv for the draft lottery he was visibly pissed off he did not get McDavid. Sabres losing on the ice and in the front office .

As a Canucks fan, I can’t help but feel bad for my 1970 expansion cousins Sabres. Both franchises seemed cursed for years and now the Canucks are coming out of it. I believe in you Buffalo, you’ll get out of it soon too.

I'm a Rangers guy, but I've always liked the Sabres! I hope they figure things out. Levi needs another year or two to come into his own and Luukkonen is a bit of a game-by-game dice roll. Other than goal-tending, they basically have the tools. Just a bit of maturing and the rest is just figuring things out and establishing a good culture.

I wanna see buffalo in the playoffs again I was literally in elementary school last time they made it in I am now an adult and work 50+ hrs a week😂 it’s crazy how long it’s been I’m not even a fan of the team but I feel for sabers fans hopefully things improve 🤘

Buffalo traded Mittlestadt and bought out Skinner but didn’t use their cap space to bring in any worthy replacements. Expecting the young forwards to take that big a step forward is asking too much. Buffalo are a one line team. If you limit Thompson and Tuch you’ve kneecapped the Sabres. It’s going to be a long season.

Eichel and Reinhart requesting a trade from Buffalo was easily the best thing they could’ve done for their careers. Glad they got a ring elsewhere, hopefully Mittlestadt wins with the Avs

I want to point out that GM Tim Murray built an absolute powerhouse but no one had the patience for it become one. Look at all the players brought in by Tim Murray who have gone on to other teams and absolutely dominated. For whatever reason the Sabres couldnt make those players gel together. At one point we had Eichel, Reinhardt, O'Rielly, Rodriguez, Ulmark, Kane, Mittlestadt, Lehner, Bogosian, Okposo, Scandella, all of whom have gone on to win cups, appear in stanley cup finals games, or win individual trophies. The biggest problem with the Sabres after all these years remains what it was to begin with, Ownership. They have no idea what they are doing, and prove it time and again after 14 years of ownership Terry Pagula has proven to be nothing but inept. Tim Murray and Dany Bylsma should still be running this team, and we would have had a ton more success.

I'm not sure what people were expecting this season. Lukkonen looked ready to make the jump to solid NHL starter, but other than that they did nothing to improve the team from last year. They replaced Jeff Skinner (a mid 40 point guy) with Jason Zucker (a mid 40 point guy). Gambling on multiple bounce backs and steps forward from young and old players alike is not gonna break a 13 season playoff drought

Looking back sabres won 10 games in a row a few seasons ago, first in the NHL. What were they doing then (other than roster changes) that they're not doing now.(Other than scoring goals). They're sitting on the cap space as if it's KA bonus. Shop NOW before it's too late. Not impressed with the off season trades. They never seem to be consistent in their play. They beat the tough teams (stanley cup winners) and lose to the lower standing teams. It boggles the minds of Sabres fans and all fans in general. It is frustrating to the players and followers. Everone is an armchair quarterback.... Lets get this mpnkey off their back and go and get Stanley before i die. Lets GO BUFFALO....

How many GM's? How many coaches? When the owner chooses GM's based on feels rather than having experience, this is the result. Youngest team in the NHL this season. IMO, this falls squarely on ownership. Instead of hiring a president of hockey operations to run the franchise, the owner is way too involved in everyday decisions, and the record speaks for itself.

As a vegas fan, I like to think of it as karma for how they handled Eichel. Asking a player to set aside what they think is best for their own body is top tier dick behavior and makes a case that management doesnt care about their players' long term well-being. (I fully acknowledge that Vegas has done players dirty as well, this is just a thought, not something i would say to anyone outside of a 'pass the bong' situation.)
