Emma Laundon lost her son to rabies. She tells her heartbreaking story in this video, making it clear how this 100% preventable disease still has an impact on communities in Malawi and India.
Mission Rabies and Dogs Trust are partnering up to fight rabies through the mass vaccination of dogs in these countries, saving both human and animal lives.

When a human gets this horrible disease, they should be given medication to die comfortably not suffer through the symptoms. I have watched videos it is literally torture

I agree 100% with what you guys are saying, but I think the problem is that no one can say for certain that a patient presenting with symptoms has the rabies, it can only be suspected. Differential diagnoses have to be considered, for example the patient may have another form of encephalitis that they may recover from, so doctors have to give it the benefit of the doubt, which is heartbreaking because if it is rabies then the person will endure a hellish suffering for days on end for nothing. Rabies is a BITCH in that it can only be positively confirmed after death.

Right. From what I understand, once the symptoms develop, it's too late and death is inevitable. If they must endure the agonizing death, at least use pharmaceuticals (strong sedatives) to help them get to death as painlessly as possible.

No wonder why the cats and dogs that are treated like family in the west are shunned and feared in the east. Many people from east I know have unconscious fear of dogs growing up but they didn't knew why, well now we know. The nature of these household pets is completely different in different countries. So people of the west, best time if you see anyone from east or Africa being not so polite to a street dog, remember this video. They can be deadly.

@theallseeingeye9388
@theallseeingeye9388 3 жыл бұрын
Fear of dogs in the east stem from many factors. No animal control practices causing abandoned dogs eventually becoming packs and start defending their young or territories in urban areas causing them to attack and bite humans regularly. Animal cruelty being the norm, many dont think twice of throwing rocks or assaulting dogs that are in chains or behind fences as they pass by an area. The dogs payback in kind the day they break loose. Nearly zero peactice of training dogs or the knowledge on how to handle one. Local K9 clubs are exclusive to owners and dogs of imported breeds. This is the most common reasons. Generally more aggressive animals after years of being tied to a pole or kept in small cages as a sentry animal in homes or industrial premises. Which ever it is, I can assure you the fear of rabies is the least of them.

@@richyket661 What dogs are brutally killing your children and adults? You have this concept of dogs as being vicious animals that isn't accurate; they are a domestic species deliberately bred by humans over thousands of years to respond to our needs and emotions positively and almost every culture/people on the face of the earth, besides a few places in Asia, have venerated them as mankind's perfect animal counterpart. The standards concerning animal welfare are terrible in certain countries, which is what has given you your dog problem. Maybe fix that.

My cat just turned one and has already had the rabies vaccine but will get her next one on feb 8th of this year . If you can’t afford to vaccinate your pet then you probably shouldn’t own a pet in the first place , not saying that’s you but so many people ignore vaccinations on their animals . I got curious when the video stated a child died of rabies every 10 minutes, so I wanted to check the math. -approx. 59,000 deaths occur per year due to rabies -there are 1,440 minutes in a day. -There are 365 days a year, translating to 525,600 minutes. -Divided by 10, this gives us 52,560 cases. Conclusion: This statement is probably true, although this assumes that a child dies once exactly every 10 minutes, which obviously isn’t the case. Scary stuff still.

I applaud this mission and all involved! It’s amazing to see! On the more scientific side of the story, I wonder if it could be possible to have immunization therapy of rabies that could be passed through to the offspring of those animals who are vaccinated prior to pregnancy? Many people know of rabies. Most know it’s dangerous. Yet few realize what the death process is like for most who die of rabies! If there was ever an illness that could have been mistaken for “demonic possession”, rabies could certainly be included!

The fact that it's 100% fatal once symptoms start is scary enough, but it's such a horrific way to go... Thank God for the vaccine, that's 100% effective if given in time. I hope they can get it out to all regions.

In Florida USA they have a catch and release program for stray cats. You know the animal has been vaccinated because they clip a small piece off the end of one of it's ears. Even a snipped hole would show if the dog was vaccinated or not. Perhaps even a tag like they use for other animals. Thank you for the work you are doing. God bless.
