Our host absolutely LOVES ‘The Heavy’ and discovered them on Letterman. Their second appearance, where they played ‘What Makes a Good Man,’ also ended with Dave asking them To play ‘How You Like Me Now,’ Crazy that he did the same move twice. During the encore, Kelvin (the lead singer) actually had Dave sing it with him.

Miss You David! Got to see one show in person years ago! Third row middle seats! My brother & I took a Greyhound bus from Ohio to NYC for the show! We got free tickets in the mail! Had a blast! Loved the live and in person show! Love David!❤

Darn it! Due to the lack of creativity in almost all pop and rock music in the past 20 years or so, I've pretty much stopped keeping up with it. I guess that kept me away from rare gems that pops up from time to time. Like that one... Thank you Dave (and crew) for sharing it. That was awesome. Great song. Amazing performance.

I remember seeing this the night it aired and being just as impressed by The Heavy as Dave was. I immediately went out and bought the album when it was available. The only other act that I did that for was Adele when I heard her perform "Rolling in the Deep" on Letterman and thought "yep, sign me up for more of that!" It was incredible seeing Dave ask them to keep playing. You could tell he was vibing with it hard. 😂

@Letterman you are my only hope in finding this…. Can you find the extended clip of this from the studio feed? Years ago the video made it way to Vimeo or some such site. The lead singer went over to Dave and asked him the bridge “How you like me now?” And Dave said “We love you” in the mic. I had it at one point book marked. It really features Paul and the band getting into it. Worth a post for this page!

I believe you’re thinking of the 2nd time they came on the show. 1st they played A Good Man. Then they played this song again after Dave asked them to. Lucky enough to see them live in Portland OR, to say they blew the roof off the joint would be an understatement!!

I'll never forget that night! Loved the song as soon as they started playing and how David had them do it again. Their next appearance was just as fun. Interesting coincidence because I was telling a friend about this recently... she likes the Heavy but didn't know about their Letterman appearances

This was so amazing. I remember it well watching it that night. I was shocked and elated Dave requested them to play the song again! They must have felt so flattered. They tore up this song even thou it was not an original. There’s another song on the album that’s good too but I STILL have this song on my Apple play! I’ll be listening to it when (if) I’m 85!
