The Hebrew Word "Elohim" Does Not Reveal A Mystery Of Multiple Persons That Are One God In Essence

In this video we will learn why many scholars and theologians (including trinitarians) have rejected the idea that the Hebrew word "Elohim" supports the doctrine of the trinity, the belief that God is made up of multiple Persons that make up one God in purpose and essence. Upon deeper study of the Hebrew grammar associated with the One True God, Yahweh, being called Elohim (God), many have come to understand that the plural form of that title is an amplified noun that is referring to a plural of majesty, honor, and excellency. It actually conveys the fact that God is the greatest of all gods (He is the Elohim of elohim as in Deuteronomy 10:17). Whenever "Elohim" refers to the One True God, it is accompanied by singular verbs. When "elohim" refers to more than one false god, it is accompanied by plural verbs. If it were true that the Hebrew word "Elohim" was used for the purpose of indicating that the true God consists of multiple Persons, then plural verbs would have to be used when referring to God. In this video we will look at examples of how varied and complex the meaning is behind the word "elohim" throughout the Old Testament and when we understand that it is translated into the Greek New Testament, when referring to God (Elohim), it is translated into the singular word "Theos" not the plural word "Theoi." This sheds light on the singular understanding of the Hebrew word "Elohim" when referring to the One True God. We also have a powerful example in Exodus 7:1 where the LORD (Yahweh) told Moses He had made him a god (elohim) to Pharaoh. Now we know that Moses was only one single individual person and so what this is conveying in the Hebrew is the fact that the LORD made Moses very great in the eyes of Pharaoh. Please join me as we discuss this important subject.

That's exactly why I did this video! Maybe consider hearing the entire matter before responding and follow the biblical model. Just in case you won't even take the time to watch this entire video to consider something other than what you currently believe and have been taught on this subject, I ask you to consider a few things. Exodus 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. If you look at the word for "god" it is "elohim." It's the same Hebrew plural noun that is used in reference to the One True God. Does this mean that the LORD made Moses multiple different persons to Pharaoh? Of course not! The plural noun that is used is pointing to Moses' greatness in the eyes of Pharaoh. The plural noun in Hebrew emphasizes a plural of majesty, honor, and excellency. There is only one God (Elohim) and that is the Father and His name is YHWH (Yahweh). Jesus is Yahweh incarnate. This is clearly laid out in 1 Corinthians 8:6, "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." You may want to watch this video first to have your understanding of Elohim tested by the Word of God: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4DYqGNreNV6idk Oh and consider that the Hebrew word for "face" is a plural noun that is used even when referring to one single person's face as in Genesis 16:6, "But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face." The Hebrew word for face is "panim" (pronounced Pawneem) and it is a plural word and here it is describing one singular face, the face of Sarah. Let God be true but every man a liar! The doctrine of the trinity is not found in the Word of God but is an invention from the minds of men. The only Elohim that exists is the Father and His name is Yahweh and Jesus is Yahweh manifest in the flesh. The name Jesus means Yahweh is salvation! God bless you in your studies and seeking of the truth. The truth does indeed set us free!

@@ShatteringFalseFoundations Yes, I am a dog lover. Past 2 days, my AC went out and she is sweltering, along with me. But I am consumed with studying with you. As a testimony, I tried to reconcile many troublesome verses all along like Thomas saying "My Lord and My God", or I have been with you so long Phillip, how is it you say show me the Father", and of course Isaiah 9:6 - how is the child the everlasting Father. But as I study slowly through each book I find issues that made me think Jesus is really the Father in the flesh, and yet, they are 2 distinct people in Daniel 7 throne room scene and in Revelation and I have tried and tried to try to reconcile things. I prayed and prayed for the Lord to show me truth. Then I "happened" across your site. I am only on the first few, but it is amazing how much light you are shedding on the Word, and can't wait to see how it all comes out. Bless you! And I am pretty sure God is using you to answer my prayer. I will ask questions if I have any when I finish the series. You are so thorough an methodical, I don't know if I will. But thank you so much!

Oh no, I hope and pray your AC was able to get back in working order for you and your dog. Our dog does not do well in the heat but absolutely loves the cold and snow. I'm so glad to hear that the Lord has used my channel to help with your understanding of how Jesus is God the Father manifest in the flesh! Thanks for your kind and encouraging words. To God be the glory! I am right in the middle of my busiest season of work, but Lord willing I will be able to continue to post new videos throughout the summer that will help shed more light on this important subject. This video series has been on my heart for a really long time. God bless!

It’s an app called e-sword. You can download it at the following link and just be sure to download the appropriate one for whatever device you plan on using. It takes a little bit of learning and adjusting the settings to your needs but is a great program for studying once you get the hang of it. e-sword.net I recently found a better app than e-sword which I will be using from now on in my videos. That can be found here: lifebible.com/ God bless you in your studies!

It is unmistakable that Elohim is a plural form of Eloah and that Elohim preceded the God of the Old Testament as referring to the gods of earlier polytheists. It is also true that Grammarians have come to refer to the plurality as a plural of majesty or of rank, or of abstraction, or of magnitude (Gesenius, Grammatik, 27th ed., nn. 124 g, 132 h). I accept your research that word has been used for Angels and Judges and possibly single false gods. Still, it sayd Elohim not Eloah. Plural form not singular. It is pretty cool to think that hints of the Trinity exist in the very first book of the Bible; possibly a thousand years before Pentecost. As we ponder that the etymological roots of the Old Testament are explained and controlled by monotheistic Jews; what an amazing thing that we see that the first references to God in the scriptures do not use the singular form but the plural form. God knew exactly what He was doing as He inspired Moses. You can, as a monotheist, stand in front of this and say "Dont look here! Nothing to see here!", I however, as a trinitarian, see the miracles of progressive revelation in the Bible.

You see these things not because of the Word of God but because of all the tradition you have heard preached or taught about this subject. The Scriptures are very clear that God is one singular Being, not three. He doesn’t have a split personality. The incarnation explains everything regarding distinction between Father and Son. Jesus Christ is the Father’s Person (hypostasis - essence/substance) incarnate. There is only one God whose name is Yahweh and Jesus is that one singular God incarnate as our Saviour. One God: Understanding the Singularity of God In Light of the Distinctions Between Father, Son, and Holy Ghost kzbin.info/aero/PLo_7oh9llbNbh0-mW2I3WrQcDBqQYDRVs Trinity doctrine as believed in Catholicism is an invention of man. Sadly “Protestants” have continued to believe in this wrong understanding of God and the identity of Jesus Christ. Jesus isn’t just one of three persons that make up God incarnate. He is the singular God incarnate, the express image of the Father’s (Yahweh’s) Person (Hebrews 1:3). @@ShatteringFalseFoundations Thank you for the very comprehensive reply. I cannot help but wonder if you truly do not see what you are writing. It really does come down to whether you accept a Triune God or not. To me what you write points to a Triune God; yet you seem quite convinced that you are proving a singular God without three persons. God Bless! May we all find the Truth.
@ShatteringFalseFoundations

@@stevemartin6267 Triune can mean so many different things to different people and many times how people communicate it is basically a candy coated polytheism. Most people who profess a belief in Jesus Christ acknowledge that there is only one singular God. The question is with regards to different persons or not that make up one God. We need to define what we mean by person. When I use the term person I am referring to a conscious rational being. God is a divine person. If you say that God is three persons then it would mean that God is three conscious rational beings. That’s found nowhere in Scripture. When we understand that God’s essence/substance (hypostasis) in the Greek is Yahweh and that there is only one Spirit and God is a Spirit, then we can come to believe as the Scriptures declare regarding the identity of Jesus. Jesus is not one of three persons incarnate. Jesus is God incarnate (1 Timothy 3:16). There is only one God and He is the Father whose name is Yahweh. Jesus is God’s very Person (hypostasis-essence) incarnate. God was in Christ as a genuine man while not ceasing to be the omnipresent invisible Spirit outside of His manifestation in the flesh. God is both Father and Son at the same time because of the incarnation. 1 Corinthians 8:6 KJVS But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 1 Timothy 3:16 KJVS And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. 2 Corinthians 5:19 KJVS To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. That series I shared goes deep into this important subject for all truth seekers interested.
