I actually use a lot of different stratagems and weapons now after the update, which oddly enough is what Arrowhead thought they were trying to accomplish by playing whack-a-mole with nerfing. It's now obvious they were creating METAs by making everything shit instead of trying to bring up the other weapons to par.

How did they not see this before? Take the autocannon for example. The autocannon has been good since launch on both the bot and bug front. The autocannon is, by arrowhead’s own statement, the standard for a balanced weapon. That to me suggests they were never going to nerf it so what was the end game? A meta where only the autocannon is viable? What the hell was the plan?

All nerfing did was create a vicious cycle where every time players found something that worked and filled a role or specific niche, they were punished for it. First they came for the railgun. Then the slugger. Then the eruptor, etc etc etc... And after the nerfs naturally came Alexus to rationalize everything in the discord, talking about how the Eruptor nerf wasn't really a nerf because "a 40% increase in explosion damage is preferable to the shrapnel" for example, or how the Slugger was "the best sniper in the game, which is kinda weird for a shotgun". Any time players found a gun or strategem that worked, Arrowhead in their infinite wisdom for some reason thought that means it's broken and has to be brought down, because HOW DARE YOU not struggle and sweat each and every mission??? HERESY! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO FAIL THE MISSION, NOT SUCCEED! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE A GRUNT IN A MEAT GRINDER, NOT AN ELITE HELLDIVER!!! CEASE THIS UNDEMOCRATIC TREASON!

Fun fact, Stim Pistol works with the Stim Booster plus wearing medic armor doubles (I think) the total health regen'd. That, and multiple shots stack. Plus you can fix broken limbs which happens WAY more often after the patch. And at the bare minimum, it's just extra stamina for running teammates. Honestly let's me live out the medic/support fantasy, I love it!

Some poor guy made a post on the reddit about "Hey guys, balance is important so they can't keep buffing everything and nerfs will need to happen." I've informed them that while they may have a point, this post is coming right after the big buff patch after months of bad nerfs and that's like telling a bunch of kids that candy is bad so don't eat too much after they're back from trick or treating.

The Devs did it, the game is fun again! Finally my team and I can rotate between a lot of loadouts, even suboptimal ones, and still feel we can put up a good fight. We kill a lot. We die a lot. We spend much less time running around trying to evade bug breaches. That's what the game is about!

Even the Sickle is slapping now. Got shadow-buffed by the zero-recoil update to laser weapons and it MASSIVELY improves your accuracy, which translates to serious TTK improvements because its miserable Durable Dmg means you need to put as many rounds on weak spots as possible to use the Las-16 optimally

@@leonsixt2744tendy is viable on level 7 bot missions (and it’s light armor pen), you just need at least one diver of the squad specializing in medium units. the berserkers belly being nerfed is something I‘m looking forward into testing though, and hulks, tanks and factory striders is what the recoilless is for. the rocket sentry does medium penetration and with the explosive dmg resist it achieved a while ago, it’s pretty strong against gunships actually!

To be honest, I like taking the blitzer solely to take care of stalker lairs myself. The stagger on it lets you easily solo all stalker lairs... If they DID add stalkers on bug breaches it'd make it a lot more viable than it already is!

Let it be said, and continue to be said, that the crowd of people saying the game is too easy now, and that they need to go back to before these buffs are a MINORITY of players in this game. How much of a minority? We went from having 20k players on a GOOD DAY (we've dropped to 5k before), to nearly 60k every day since the update dropped 5 days ago (as of the time of this comment). When Escalation of Freedom dropped we had 60k players sure, but within 5 days of it it dropped 20k players and kept dropping. The MAJORITY of the playerbase has spoken, and the Devs have delivered an amazing update. If you want to make the game harder, then buff the number of enemy spawns on the highest difficulties like ThiccFila said, OR make Objectives (old and new) that are more challenging and difficult to complete. Let our weapons be strong, and our enemies numerous!

The thing with the game difficulty is not the weapons that primarly makes it easy it is the fact that the missions are. You can complete all missions relying on stratagems. I have awfull aim and reaction time but when I played with my friends on lvl 9 and 10 I could run around the map ignoring enemies throwing stratagems and do 40% of objectives alone. They need more escort type missions like the SD drive and make missions that must be completed as a team and missions that are focused for solo players. I would love to see a siege mission where you have a designated drop point and you have to fight through a massive map wide base.

Speaking as a player with significant time invested into War Thunder, which is a much harder game the more you go up the vehicle trees, your experience and knowledge of vehicles, maps and players becomes much more invaluable than the equipment you run in your performance. There’s always a chance of failure because of circumstances beyond your control, but at the same time, knowing how something works and how to defeat it is better than having an overpowering weapon to beat it. *HOWEVER*, those weapons need to feel fun to actually use. Knowledge doesn’t exactly do much when everything up and including the kitchen sink gets thrown your way, and not a lot of people actually have the capacity, or even temperament, to deal with it. And I’m saying this as a guy who previously served onboard an active warship. Can stuff make the game trivial? Yes, but not when the game is deliberately designed to make you use that power wantonly. Helldivers 2’s difficulty is not in scaling the power and difficulty of the enemies you fight like something like SM2; it comes from throwing more enemies, and of different types, until you are smothered. The balance there there comes from “is this weapon’s damage to ammo economy worth using?”, which the game should be based around 6-7 for the hordes and types one experiences. I still get challenged frequently on 7, simply because the game spawns enemies the squad didn’t have an easy solution for, or the random chaos of a firefight. TL:DR claims of the game being easy come from a minute player base that is either playing on the lower end of the game, or would be better off playing a different game entirely. When AH get around to difficulty 11 & 12, maybe they should come back. Personally, I think more mission modifiers, including old ones, should be introduced, and able to be toggled on for hazard pay and challenge.

IMO gas still needs a bit of a buff to be fun to use. My suggestion is: - Increase the duration of the gas proc to 5 seconds - Make enemies deliberately target each other instead of just attacking randomly - Make the Sterilizer leave behind gas clouds

I'd also suggest that the gas should stop them from calling in reinforcements as well. And if the gas dog is going to only do one target at a time, have it prioritize larger targets to keep them under the effects.

Like if an already aggressive creature is getting poisoned to death, it’s gonna at the very least start going wild. Plus, the fact that gassed bugs are more unpredictable adds a fun risk to using gas weapons

Yeah the ability to run various interesting loadouts like a full arc build is awesome. Ran that the other day and experiencing all my arc weapons working properly could make a grown man cry. Seeing the blitzer splitting its shot to multiple enemies or putting all on one enemy is great to see. And didnt have a single missfire either. Then the arc thrower hitting things from range, stunning bigger enemies and hitting like an absolute truck... Hooo boy

It's a kind of queue system. When an enemy is confused (or their head is blown off in the case of the brood commander) The last action they started will still go through without a hitch. It's why hunters can still jump on you despite being gassed.

Honestly the extra damage you take really balanced out the combat improvements. I use to hate getting donked by an attack I couldn't have seen or avoided. Now it feels like you can do as much donking as the enemy and it feels good.

Upping the build diversity, and strong options is huge. I'm so happy that I can run other weapons now that feel good except for the ONE WEAPON that was META per faction like I was doing earlier. That fact that you can try wacky combos and through skill and good build crafting make them very effective is what makes a game like this feel good. Now we just need more quality of life changes, and more content. I need my vehicles already!

Though, I was hoping *everything* would recieve a buff or change, the stuff that needed it the most got the best changes. Still, the game is genuinely fun again now that I can play stratgem roulette and still have a chance of beating the mission

I am so happy with the recent patch. Things I think would be really fun for me is a more engaging progression mechanic, which is usually what keeps me playing in a game like this! I want to work towards unlocking my favorite unlock synergies. Here are some fun progression ideas i've had: - minor mods for armor and weapons. For example, different armors have different numbers of accessory slots, for things like "improved radar range but 3% increased stamina drain, +5 armor but 2% slower aiming speed, -5% stamina usage but -7 armor, +5% aim stability and turn speed but +5% reload time, -10% reload time but -1 mag for your primary and secondary". Guns could have similar slots, maybe even crazy stuff like "increase armor pen by +1 but reduce fire rate by half". You could even save custome loadouts. A step further would be gaining experience for guns and armor individually to unlock their slots and a unique mod for only that armor if they max it out! Use requisition credits for this and increase the requisition cap, so that those matter At All now. I haven't cared about requisition credits since my first 20 hours of gameplay, which is insane cause they're the only real award from the MAJOR OBJECTIVES LOL. - Some kind of "skill-tree" for levels would be So fun, could make the bonuses have diminishing returns of course so they asymptote at some point, but it would just be nice if levels mattered at all too. This one feels less important to me, but levels seem pointless so it's kind of a weird hole in progression. - I would love to see customizable tradeoffs for strategems, similar to the armor mods but a little more impactful. Lots of damage for cooldown, blast radius for cooldown and call-in time, maybe even a massive upgrade like "precision strike can be upgraded to a mini-nuke artillery shell, but cooldown is 7 minutes and call in time is quadrupled" or something. Could purchase those with req credits or some kind of new currency, I'd just love for it to be a currency that you get at end of mission for completing certain things instead of ANOTHER thing you have to drag around with you all mission.

My list of wants. Fix tanks (probably revert the AP 6 change or just change the vents), make barrager turrets AP 4 but make them more common, make rocket striders ragdoll less and make the backs have light armor, make heavy armor better and maybe very slightly reduce the body part health change, buff heavy armor, and finally, now that most enemies and weapons are fun now, give me MORE enemies that spawn

On a bug mission I was on the "escort VIPs" objective and two bile titans approached from the elevated ground to the north. I threw an impact to get the fence out of the way, dove and sprayed the flamethrower in their face which lined up perfectly and both died. It felt great and the flamethrower feels so much better than it did before the patch. You can't make everyone happy, I don't know how someone can say the game is too easy if you turn it up to 11 difficulty.

I think everything is balanced now. Except for improving some aspects that help players, like the 110mm rocket pod buff. We don't need mob spawns to be very frequent, mob spawns are already balanced in difficulty, the game should give you the opportunity to destroy the spawning horde.

To me the biggest thing they could and should do is reworking the armor buffs, they are too minor or completely build defining, like the resistance to lightning and such. I think they could do things like: mashing together for example: Peak Physical Condition: being the servo assisted + the commando. Leading to a more of a class like approach. And together with this and add way more light, medium or heavy dependent buffs. So more speed related things for light, like technician making all the arrow settings smaller for you, so whenever your ctrl calls could auto end the last two and the painels should start with the first two already done.

it's actually easier now. I havent failed a single lv 10 mission since the patch, I cleared a full map 100% with a squad of two... it's actually easier now, I'm not complaining though, it's still fun as hell

I'm glad you're able to find fun with the game again, Thicc!. As for me, that ship sailed with all the discourse that went down some months back, and I eventually lost interest in the game and moved onto other games in my backlog (also playing more co-op games with my partner this yr). I honestly don't feel like hopping back on, mostly due to performance reasons, but also because I lost trust/interest with the game itself. I just hope that AH learned a really valuable lesson from all this, and going forward with their next game, I may check it out, hoping that I won't lose interest in whatever new game they come up with down the road.

I want armor passives to be more noticeable/more effective, like the fire resistance armor should prevent you from being ignited. And helmets should have something too. Like also for the fire resistance have the helmet give you the missing 25% resistance to make you immune to fire damage. Same for gas. Also a cool thing would be for certain helmets to have different opticals like enemy’s with red highlighting or similar when aiming.

The thermite buff is honestly at least top 3 changes this patch if not my favorite cause it’s allowed me to finally put down the RR/EATs and start using stalwart which I’ve wanted to use since launch but haven’t been able to because of the requirement to bring an AT strat or stick to a teammate that has it like glue. Crossbow as a mini GL with the stalwart/MG has been super fun to use and it’s so nice not having to bring GL pistol for bug holes and having a reliable answer for spewers that has more than 7 rounds for my primary. That’s just one loadout I’ve been using too it feels so freeing being able to change my guns around and not worry about not being able to do anything against a majority of enemies

Meta only appear when there is only one option is viable, but when everything is viable then it erases the meta and creates many options to choose from and mixmatch. DRG is the best example: every weapon is viable thus we can change loadout every time.

now they just really need to focus on adding progression to the game to keep those player numbers as they are. whether it be weapon challenges for camos on your guns or armor patterns/shaders, using guns to level them up and unlock weapon attachments that u then buy with samples with upsides and downsides (example: drum mag for liberator but makes reload 1 or 2 seconds longer and like 1 or 2 less mags in total, supressor that reduces recoil makes it not alert enemies if they arent right next to you but your gun does less dmg or something) Edit: for the camos and shaders i dont mean anything flashy and distracting like ones in cod and similar games just in universe themed camos like way to make your sickle blacked out or the spray & pray with black and yellow colors like the helldivers colors maybe even chrome for the revolver etc.

This version of the game has the most weapon variety in the game's history. I see sniper rifles on bug planets. I see incendiary weapons used against the bots. Even the frag grenade may see use on blitz missions to get the most bug holes and fabricators destroyed. one thing that I enjoy of this game is that players are incentivized to plan their loadout to the mission. This is an amazing game design. Players should be rewarded for specializing their loadouts and experimenting based on the threats they face. One thing that I wish for in the future is possibly optional modifiers. That or more positive modifiers. Which make more "Difficult" Missions more likely to be picked. Say players hate the civilian rescue mission, why not give them a modifier like "Automated stratagem deployment" Which cuts down stratagem deployment by 33%. So players are more likely to experiment with slower stratagems like barrages.

My favorite loadout to take into missions is Guerilla Gorilla armor, HMG and supply backpack. Living out my Jorge from Halo Reach heavy gunner fantasy. I wouldn’t mind if the HMG got a little more love with some future patches. I think it’s pretty helpful on botdives for devastators, striders and hulks, but on bugdives it feels a bit like a glorified primary weapon, rather than a support weapon

Nursing spewers/bile spewers should be in the modifiers to let squads better prepare what to bring. More enemies should be added with this in mind, instead of locking newer enemies to even higher tiers to add difficulty. The highest difficulty could have both or different combinations.

Yeah no. The people complaining about the game being ‘too easy’ right now are full of it. I was skeptical about how much different the game would really feel with this update, but I’ve got to admit it feels like night and day in terms of pre vs post patch. It really does feel just.. so _good_ to play again, and I realized that I had been suppressing a ton of stress during games during the last patches that I no longer feel when in-game. The idea that things were ‘easier’ was an idea that completely left my mind after just a few games with the update; I lost an entire game with level 100s in 15 minutes FLAT to bots on difficulty 9. 20+ reinforcements absolutely melted. Bugs feel “easier” by comparison, sure, but only because you aren’t playing dodge-the-charger so much. You can still get swarmed and it feels like we definitely did a lot more. Deaths feel a lot more natural rather than unfair and shitty. Game still needs a bit of ironing out like with the strider rockets one-tapping you and more than 2 MG devastators being unreasonable to deal with, but it’s a ton of fun. It feels balanced and more importantly, enjoyable.

i love being able to take stalwart + jetpack on bugs now and not have to play run away simulator for 40 minutes if it turns out to be a charger heavy enemy table, just bring thermites and i can deal with them if i have to. thermites aren't even op because if literally anyone else on your team has some form of hard AT they will kill whatever it is faster than a thermite will, it's not a real replacement for AT, just a bandaid if you don't bring it

Sterilizer with laser dog is a pretty low maintenance way to a high kill count. Use it with the Blitzer and don't hose the entire map down and it is really ammo efficient and fun. Spray a quick blast of gas and switch to the Blitzer. Gas dog straight up flies around not doing anything a lot of the time. When it is attacking it is great but it bugs out. I have stood right next to chargers for a full minute and had it never attack. Same with hulks. I can run through a mass of bugs and it won't attack. It wasn't in its reload cycle either. When it works it is really cool, but there is something off in its targeting. Gas grenades are cool but thermite is better. The game is too easy when you run around not fighting enemies. And that is what most of those people are doing. It isn't a real complaint. They are running around with stealth armor not fighting.

The Spray And Pray(?) Breaker feels weird. When I was using it, it didn't really effectively take out the tiny bugs and Hunters (the small stabby jumping ones) but it was able to take out the Charger's butt in around a 1/2 mag. Anyone else feel that? Kinda was expecting the opposite since birdshot is usually used to kill small varmints and not bigger game.

Honestly, I think the Eruptor shrapnel is good as it is. If they were going to buff it, maybe it's penetrator? The direct damage it does to the thing it hits? That'd be good.

It's probably the DPS enemy increase I think enemies being glasscannons kinda help with the coop aspect of the Game and how everyone must cover everyones backs to stay alive which also makes the games fantasy come to life

When the Flamethrower got nerfed, I genuienly debated whether I should become a full-time botdiver because it was the only thing keeping me going for the bugs and bots were just much easier to deal with. But now that it got rebuffed, I can enjoy bugs again, and I don't even have to give up the support slot. Vulkan lives!

I actually like the slower fire rate of the Lib-C. I think a flat damage buff per shot is the answer. Make it kill softer bugs easily and reward accuracy. I’d use it

A huge enemy with a bunch of glowing spots you have to take out for it to die would be a fun way to put a bullet sponge in the game, but keep it interesting

Big step in the right direction. I do hope they add more difficulties to keep up the challenge. There are also some weapons that still need small buffs. Increase the mag size of the ARs by about 10 rounds. Increase the liberator penetrator mag by 5 rounds etc. Love the liberator concussive change but it needs a bit more power or fire rate to keep it more viable.

Exactly, weapons and stratagems shouldn't be tweeked around difficulty, they should be tweeked around fun. You can adjust difficulty in a myriad of ways that don't remove the moment to moment fun, like time limit, reinforcement limit, number and types of enemies, more objectives, harder objectives, etc... It's just dumb design to equate a loadout output to the game difficulty!

Yeah stim pistol's useful, I've been using it on bots with randoms and the amount of times I saved a teammate after being rocket ragdolled by pumping his ass full of darts is insane. Only huge issue with it is its tiny hitbox, plus it feels really wonky to shoot.

The only issue I have is being killed INSTANTLY my stalkers, warriors that combo hit before u can even stim shot, etc after they herfed the body armor and buffed helmet.

you need some stagger weapons :), cookout, punisher, pummeler, blitzer, bushwhacker is the best bug secondary imo, the gas effects can be extremely helpful too. Turrets can take the aggro off you.
