Slowik is calling plays as if Texans have the best offensive line in the league. Every passing play Cj has to wait for plays to develop. Knowing there’s offensive line issues why isn’t there a quick passing game schemed up, a fast no huddle tempo to gas the defense and prevent them from substituting and keeping their pass rushers fresh.

I agree with most of your takes, but saying there's nothing going on with C.J. looking for those 5 or 6 yard throws this season... not so much. He had plenty of those last season. This season the injury bug has hit them HARD! The receivers who have that great separation ability OFF the line aren't there. Add in the EVER present pressures, and numerous sacks, his internal clock is off. There's also been many attempts at getting those short throws but either he's just been too quick on the throw, or leading them expecting them to get that separation. Many times they've gotten hands on the balls but haven't been able to reel them in. Dell has even dropped I believe 2 in the Endzone TD's this season. BUT, I will say the predictability of Slowic's playcalling has also been awful this season. Last year there wasn't much tape on his calls as it was the first year, but this season teams just know what's coming. That Kubiak/Shanahan tree is awful for the first down run, second down run, third down pass crap. THEY KNOW what's coming! It's nice to mix it up when viable. After the Jets scored the go ahead TD, that 50 yard bomb to Tank was nice, then after the conservatism showed up. That was like the only play of the game where they tried anything really deep. Granted, was about the only play he had enough time to do it. But fix the O line issues and a lot of his shortcomings this season will be diminished. Even with WR1 and WR2 out. Mixon has been a blessing this year, a breath of fresh air behind C.J. If only they could get those in front of him to play with that same tenacity.

You can’t play good qb when you’re running for your life. Cj is so good and that’s why they stay in these games. And Joe Mix carry’s a heavy load too. CJ Stroud was the least factor in the loss against the jets. 2 missed field goals, bad ref calls, will anderson out in the second half, no diggs or collins, and new receivers and the horrrible horrible O line would make anyone nervous. He had to make 2 plays in less than 2 minutes and that's asking too much of any QB, I think CJ handled it much better than most other QBs but yes, if the O line is not fixed, it is definitely gonna affect CJ's play, so the texans better get something cooking asap

Stroud certainly needs stronger protection, he has been pressured so much that he is focusing too much on avoiding pressure than looking down field and sometimes feeling "ghost" pressure, but your right they have been really unlucky with the injuries, Stroud lost his top 2 star recivers, one for the season and it's only his second season and they did bring help in for him. He has a high ceiling, but things haven't gone great the past few weeks.

Let's be realistic here. We were banged up last night, we played against Aaron Rodgers, and the OL can't protect. Get over it and move on. This is the second year of a rebuild. Texans weren't supposed to be ANYTHING last year, but we won the AFC South. Now we have to live with playing the teams that will expose the growing pains we need to work on. Slowik's gameplan and the offensive line both need to be addressed. We do get Nico Collins back for Detroit next week. That will give CJ some help. We may need to get a third receiver, if you don't want to run Bobby Trees every week. This is still a good team, despite the loss.

In a way Mixon has kind of hurt the team because it's allowed the deficiencies in the pass game to fester and worsen. A successful run game is supposed to open up the passing game is what we've been told over and over. Not in Slowiks offense. It literally has gotten worse and worse. The better Mixon plays, the worse CJ and the o-line plays. Mixon has covered up the horrific passing game and kept the line, coaching, and CJ out of the spotlight long enough that it's almost/maybe too late to do something about it. I hope Caserio can pull some magic out of his ass again. And since the honeymoons over, It will be interesting to see how Demeco, Slowik, and CJ handle the negative spotlight that is going to be on them the rest of the year and if they're able to show true greatness by getting back up off the floor and overcoming the position they put themselves in. We'll have a real look at their character by how they handle this adversity.

This is SO last year's Jaguars...Hou comes off big season...new coach...ascending Star QB...Playoffs...HUGE expectations for the next year...and then the O-Line plays AWFUL...ruins the offense....affects QB play...they win but look UGLY doing it...injuries start piling up...now Jags had a meltdown after got to 8-3...but we are SOFT...I dont think Hou implodes...but they are also not gonna fix that Oline this season and are going to struggle vs other good teams...we shall see

Actually I think this is more of a fact that the Texans don't match up well with their offensive line vs the Jets defensive front 7. Last year the Jets cooked the Texans 30-6 and had 5 sacks in the game, forced numerous turnovers and knocked Stroud out of the game with a concussion. I think the only way you address this is in the draft, not trading for offensive lineman that you might not have next season and lose your draft capital.
