Life long Minnesotan, & Vikings fan. Julian your objective unlike the analysis hosts on the coasts. Even if the Vikings win it all. Next year these folks won’t say this defending Super Bowl winner is the team to beat. We’re fly over country. My take is, the Vikings still haven’t played a complete game. If we can manage to win out (which will be hard),get home field advantage. He’ll yes…we can win the Super Bowl. But Josh Allen looks unstoppable right now. Like your commentary, keep up the good work.

It’s hard for these media people to trust a team that hasn’t won a Super Bowl. The eagles for example have had one of the best winning records since the year 2000. So many different iterations of dominant teams and players but NOBODY took them that seriously in the post season each year because they hadn’t won a ship. THEN they win one with foles and all of a sudden they are “legit contenders” each year instead of the same eagles who lose in the post season every year, because, you know, foles i guess lmao

I live in Minnesota and am a Vikings fan, the reason the sports media doesn't "like" the Vikings and get little respect is because they are not a big money generating team like the Rams, Patriots, Chiefs, Packers, Cowboys, Eagles, and 49ers. They havent won a Superbowl and until they do they won't get any respect. Its sad, but unfortunately its a reality. They could be #1 in EVERY stat and still you would hear "yeah statistically they are a great team and are 14-0, but they havent shown us anything". "They're 18-0 and playing in the Superbowl, but they arent as good as their record shows". "The Vikings went 19-0 and won the Superbowl, but they aren't really a complete team and have some issues at QB". Im not joking thats the type of crap you would hear if that scenario happened. Its so ridiculous and all because we are a football team in a Hockey state. Funny cause we have never won a Stanley cup either lol

Just coming from a lifelong Vikings fan, I think what people who follow this team closely understand is that we are almost always a good team in the regular season. The Vikings never have terrible seasons or terrible stretches this is a team that is almost always in the playoffs, or at least in contention for a playoff spot year in and year out. This fan base has seen so many teams who look great in the regular season come out and s*** the bed in the first or second round of the playoffs. So that is the reason why we aren't celebrating just yet. Having said that, this season does feel different. And it was supposed to be a rebuilding Year anyway so this all kind of feels like house money, and yet I am cautiously optimistic that this team is built different than all those previous one and done teams

Welcome to being a Vikings fan. There is something fundamental about this team that the national media simply can't get over and I just don't understand it. Some will say it's because they didn't do well in the playoffs a few years back. Sure, that happened. But why does this logic only ever seem to apply to purple teams from the NFC? Lions had 40 years of failure then instantly get mad respect. Even all through last year there was full trust and respect on their way to their first playoff appearance in ages. There is some sort of fundamental lack of respect for this team that is deeply engrained.

I really like the playoffs of all our major sports. As another Minnesota born and bred, I love that the World Series is a series, and that ya gotta win a few series just to get there. Same for the NBA and NHL. It’s cool that the NFL is one-and-done to the Super Bowl. Having watched the 70’s team at Met Stadium with my late-father-from helmet to cleats in my miniature #10 shoulder-padded uniform, freezing my ass, but receiving free concessions from our fellow section season-ticket-holding mates, I believe that any given season could be our Lombardi. More often than not, we can win on any given Sunday. 🙏🏽✌🏽💜 from the Land of 10,000 Lakes

A couple observations of mine, That Rams game could potentially have been a win if that egregious face mask was called. Second observation, with the Vikings forever but especially this season it's always a moving goalpost. They have a great defensive game, oh their offense and good enough. They have a great offensive game, defense isn't good enough. They completely roll the bears, oh it's a really really bad bears team. They always use this team having a very well balanced team, against them.
@theycallmebruce31322 күн бұрын
100% agree with your statement..." especially this season it's always a moving goalpost." Which is 100% lack of respect from everyone else out there.
@AK_Ray2 күн бұрын
@@theycallmebruce3132 I think small market bias aside. A lot of the media hate this season is because the way the Vikings win, is fluid. If I gave you a list of the top teams in the NFL, and said they all won. You would pretty much know exactly how they won. The eagles ran the ball down people's throat, the Chiefs used a stout defense and mahomes black magic, the bills had a Herculean MVP effort from Josh Allen, Lamar and the Ravens lit it up with his legs, The Lions played aggressive and efficient on offense. But then you get to the Vikings, they're unpredictable. They have won with a super stout defense like the Chiefs, they have won with a Herculean MVP showing from darnold, they have won with aggressive efficient offensive play, and many other ways. I truly believe this Minnesota Vikings team is the most complete team in the NFL. I think they're offense compliments of defense and vice versa. That creates a problem for the media, if there's not one narrative, not one pay horse they can ride throughout the season they just look at it from a 10,000 ft view as this sketchy scrappy team.

It's tunnel focus. They are still judging by past years/performance. They always bring up the 2022 Playoff where the Giants beat us. That was primarily due to Minnesota having the 31st defense that couldn't get Daniel Jones and Barkley off the field. First things First the other day exposed that Sam will never be off of Pumpkin Mode. Whenever Minnesota wins then the goalposts will be moved and more of a wait-and-see. Then there is the "application of different standards". Mahomes can pull off a win in close games all the time and he is praised for it. Darnold does the exact same thing and is criticized. Same thing with Goff. He threw 5 Interceptions and came back and won the game and was praised for it showing how good he was despite throwing that many ints. Sam did pretty much the same thing (only 3 interceptions) and was vilified for doing that and Pumpkin Mode is activated immediately. Once you are labeled you will never completely get rid of that moniker for both the team performance (4 Super Bowl losses) and the individual players. Minnesota is 7-1 at home and 5-1 on the road so they are balanced and will do fine if a wild card traveling.

Vikings fan here. I think its perfectly fair to hold off on us as contenders until they win a playoff win. Damn near every coach or qb or both, in the nfc has more playoff success on their resumes then kevin O'connel and sam darnold. You have to go through it before you can succeed. Its very rare a first time qb can run through a conference in their first playoff run. Mahomes even got knocked out in the afc title game his first go around

To be fair, staring to believe the Vikings can win the division should have more to do with the Lions finally losing a game versus the Vikings not being a great team. I guess every single quarterback should be considered a pumpkin since they lose to mahomes every single year in one fashion or another. Its just a matter of time until every quarterback turns into a pumpkin. What is there, only 3 other active qbs in the entire league that have a super bowl ring? Stafford, Rodgers, Wilson, all at the end of their careers. Every other qb is on pumpkin watch. but no, just reserve their points because Sam Darnold. Well, Lamar folds, Hurts folds, Goff folds, Allen folds, burrow folds, herbert folds. Even the 3 other superbowl winning quarterbacks fold year after year. A Rodgers for years kept failing against 9ers and seahawks.
