Beautiful clock and great video series! I mentioned in an earlier video that my father was a clockmaker. Hearing the chimes reminded me of being in his shop and hearing all of the clocks chime at (relatively) the same time. I miss those days and I miss him. Thanks for sharing the beauty of your woodworking and analog technology....

That walnut looks great, and good tips for others building similar clocks. I also would like to hear the other songs, as it plays them. The Hermle 1050-020 - Part 24.5 (conclusion addendum) Bob

Another beautiful quality product Ron. Enjoyed the trip. Right after you said ".......... you don't force anything" you wiggled the hour hand back and forth. I was surprised with that kind of wiggling on a delicate instrument. But then again, I never built one like that. BTW - .You disappointed me. I kept waiting for Famous Green Towel Removal - Part 1 :-)

Hi Ron, Do you have videos of what I can do as far as troubleshooting this movement. A friend of mine has one that won't run, that her husband made for her . I can get the chimes to work by moving the hands, but it won't run otherwise. Thanks for your great videos!
@roncalverley5 жыл бұрын
Hi Rosanne, It may just need cleaning and oiling. Depending on how meaningful it is to her, a clock repair shop is the answer 🤞

Great build, I was waiting to hear the four different tones. Wonder if they make one that plays "Deep in the Heart of Texas"? BobT

Hi Bob, Re: "Wonder if they make one that plays..." You may like an electronic movement like this. It will record 10 seconds of whatever you like, then play it back on the hour. I've never actually tried one though, so I don't know how good they are :) www.craftimeclockery.com/contents/en-ca/p374_10_Second_Recordable__Dual-Chime_Movement.html

Hi there. I have a Franz Hermle movement that's similar yours in one of my clocks. It seems to be going a little too fast, but I can't find where I can regulate the speed. Do you know if there's a place in that movement where you can increase or decrease the clock's speed?
@roncalverley4 жыл бұрын
I made this video this morning. Hope it helps. When adjusting the speed of a movement, there is a lot of trial and error involved. Good luck Tristan 🙂 kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWHdo6lnZcyipJo

something I have noticed that would trigger horologists is that the clock chimes 1 minute past the quarter of the hour. I’ll be honest it triggers me a bit LOL

Ron i watched your entire series on this clock. i have a clock with the same movement. from one expert to another i would like to ask what the screw adjustment near the hair spring above the balance wheel is used for? thank you in advance i throughly enjoyed the series.
@roncalverley3 жыл бұрын
I've never adjusted it, but it would be to take the slack out of the balance wheel shaft. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍

I have a 340-020A camelback. It's been running fast since it was cleaned. Mechinism looks similar except it does not have the lever and only plays Westminster. Can you tell me which direction to turn the adjust screw clockwise or countercw? My eyes do not decern the spring length changing. Metrodone tells me it is running between 120 to 130 ticks per minute. It it also supposed to run at 150 ticks per minute

can you put the pendulum movement the selver one back in to your grandfather's mantle clock again
