It is the usage of a car that decides if you can have a diesel car with a dpf. If you only drive a couple of miles/kms a day you should NOT have a diesel powered car. Petrol is much better. I only buy petrol cars.

I know that the DPF is underneath the car. I wonder if a DPF can be designed with a pop-out cartridge that can be put into a DPF regen machine overnight and then put back in.
@BestCarMods3 күн бұрын
Where there is a will, there will be a way. Now technically in a passenger vehicle, engineers have more space limitation than on bigger vehicles. On truck, the dpf is like a cartridge that you remove send to a specialised cleaning company and refit.

Diesels are yesterday's game, not because of manufacturers but because of ever more stringent emission regulations and soon they're to be phased out all together for private vehicles in europe by 2030 under the M.E.V ruling ... I give up with it all 😢

EGR off lowers amount of soot to a minimum. Both for intake and DPF health: switch it off.
@BestCarMods5 күн бұрын
Many remap specialist are saying that you can't have EGR off and DPF on.
@lavrentievv5 күн бұрын
@BestCarMods I've had one tell me I can't have both off. But as an engineer, I'm 95% sure you can. ERG off will naturally have cleaner/less sooty combustion, with more oxygen and heat. So regens are probably not even needed if once in a while you put your foot to the floor.
@BestCarMods5 күн бұрын
@@lavrentievv I have done some research into it, as a fellow engineer, and during active regen the egr is closed to allow clean air + fuel resulting in highest exhaust temp. Now where I think is the disconnect is in the ECU software checks, aka regen inhibitors, where maybe the EGR needs to be showing as operational. For the average tuner, it is easy to just remove all the emission systems with something like a "software hammer", than to be sophisticated enough to do a surgical egr off while DPF is ON. Also they don't have access to the developer software.
