They are not designed that way. Its just fortuitous that they do. Should have a holding mechanism to prevent fallback, or at a push, slope them.

Then you accidentally bump the stack and the world becomes a stack of dominos. That's the reason for safety chains.

@@peterfitzpatrick7032 I think it is more a case of woosh for you. Because you focussed purely on aluminium because it is non ferromagnetic and I am telling you that even ferromagnetic materials would not work either. Seems to be a gap in your understanding.

Colleague told me about a month ago, got it from Tiktok. But whenever I put them like this, other people move the bottom away from the wall in fear of them falling over. I must admit that seeing a 12-step stepladder parked like that is a little intimidating.
@seannewman8542
@seannewman8542 Жыл бұрын
They do fall over quite often. They'll stay in place like that, but only if someone or something does not bump into them. That's why you'll usually see them with chains or bungees around them.

I've been a handyman for over 15 years, and have had more ladders than I can count. This is unsafe. If you accidentally bump into them they'll fall right over. Secure your ladders safely. Also, I'm pretty sure this is an OSHA violation.

It's a similar thing with brooms. The amount of brooms I've seen leaned against a wall at an angle, facing away from the wall and presenting a trip hazard (or at the very least getting in the way). Turn it 180° and it can be leaned flush to the wall. Simple.
