35:34 That’s a very good point Nick … apply existing “yardsticks “ to measure Portugal, you could end up “miffed” or even angry. A whole different viewpoint is necessary. A super helpful interview. Thanks to your guest too.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Max. It's pretty different content to what I'm used to, but an integral part of the process.

I have moved over 15 times in 11 years that I have lived in Ecuador. I am still trying to cope with the cultural differences from living in the states to residing in a developing country. It is an enormous challenge for me as I am an HSP (highly sensitive person) and this country seems to love noise, the louder the better. There is no way to predict very much here as people do pretty much what they want. hardly ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT AND NOISE ORDINANCES. Workers say they will be over at a certain time, rarely do they show up on time (and if they don´t show up they don´t let you know by calling or texting) and itś the same with stores, etc. I lived in Caracas, Venezuela during the late 70ś when it was ideal and so I thought moving to Ecuador (financial reasons) wouldn´t be that different than Venezuela when I lived there. Boy was I WRONG. Itś a day to day struggle with me. I am a Christian conservative and most (not all) expats in this town are new age and or liberals. I was extremely naive when I moved here, itś a hard pill to swallow even after all this time. I am a 76 year old woman with no family, all deceased. I never had a honeymoon experience living here. My 2 dogs and 3 cats have certainly helped during the days that I find it overwhelming. I only speak a little bit of Spanish but I am learning more little by little. I find it important to reach out which makes my life easier. Thank your for your program today, much needed and right on time. 👍

I'm sorry to hear about your challenges, it must be tough. I don't think Portugal would be that much different (but then again I have never been to South America, so my opinion isn't worth much!).

My mom, sisters, husband, daughter and I moved from South Africa to Canada in 2003. I developed multiple food allergies for some reason. We thrived there, but I never felt at home. The culture is just way too different. After 20 years, my husband and I moved to Portugal last year. Although I lost half my hair in the first three weeks and I don't speak the language, I have never been happier. I absolutely love it here, even though I have left my entire family back in Canada. I think I missed the sunshine and outdoor lifestyle more than I realized.

Sunshine is a vital factor for me too. Once you're used to it, you can't do without it.

Hey Nick, how many therapists does it take to screw in a light bulb? Answer: Just one but the light bulb has to want to change.

Crime in 🇸🇪? Malmo is basically a No-Go zone for the police. I have several friends there, they are horrified by the failings of the Police and criminal justice system in Sweden. The same is true of large parts of France and the U.K. I enjoyed a lovely lunch yesterday, in Loule, with French Algarve residents who are horrified by deleterious changes in French cities.
