OMG! Tucked up indoors and still felt ruddy cold watching you stomping through the snow and ice. You deserve a medal for that. The last pano of the lake was especially lovely. Cheers.

Nice to see a video on the challenge of conditions not cooperating without some epic final shot. Your day was more representative of what we often go through. We don’t get amazing shots every time we go out but we get great memories.

Couldn't agree more, when I look around at the photos I've hung in my home, they're all good, but they're also the ones that I fought hardest for and that I have the greatest emotional connection to.

Two best pieces of photography gear I invested in which have stood me in good stead. Be in good physical shape to be able to walk 5 or 6 klm. A good set of walking shoes to be able to hike into those interesting places.

I take my hat off to you Ian for persevering the weather and waiting an hour and a half for the clag to clear and then walking back to the lake and then back to the top again to get the lake shot when the clag had gone. Well done mate. The pano image's were brilliant. Catch you on the next one.

Some very good points Ian. Yeah, sometimes my favourite shots end up being the ones which have required more effort to capture, probably because that adventure sticks in my mind more. However like you say, that extra effort also has to come with sensibility in not putting ourselves in possible danger just to get 'the shot'.

Ian thank you for the video, I have been going through a very difficult trial in my life and you sharing the contrast in recognizing that these images find their meaning and beauty in the struggle and difficulty of the journey. Life is no different value and meaning comes out of some of our hardest seasons in life. An appreciation and gratitude is birthed out of difficult journeys. Thank you again for a great video.

Now I'm living in the tropics I won't be getting days like that. But it's great fun to see what you managed to do despite the conditions. Hiking is a bit more difficult in the mountains near here. A lot of the land is private, but these volcanic rock mountains are just so amazingly steep! It tends to be a matter of cheating by finding a road crossing a ridge, parking up and then seeing how far you can venture.

Another amazing adventure, Ian, but I do worry about you not wearing some form of snow goggles for your eyes! You only have one pair of eyes. I‘m a former skier and never went without this most essential item. Glad to note you had a change of clothes with you and are basically prepared. Having just played mother😂, I do enjoy your (and Henry‘s) videos and look forward to viewing them and your images each week.

Another enjoyable video with great photos, as always. And as I type this comment I'm watching the Views and Likes numbers scrolling upwards. That's always fun. I have an idea for some new merch, Ian. How about t-shirts that say "Absolutely stunning!" with some sort of graphic like an outline of mountain peaks and a camera. I think they would sell. 😉 Cheers!

Hi Ian, great video. In this sort of weather do you use a tracking app like Komoot to know where you are in a whiteout & record photo locations? I rely on it to keep me safely on the paths and store photo opportunities on a recce. Maybe that would be a good video... Just you & a phone & Komoot doing a recce :-)

Thanks for another great video. Whilst I love to see the marvellous places that you get to photograph, it does make me feel a little sad that given age and health constraints, I and I am sure many more of your avid followers, would simply not be able to even begin to emulate them. The thought of walking six miles up those hills and in those conditions would be simply out of the question. Not only that, but the fact that some of us are not lucky enough to have such stunning landscape opportunities within easy reach, somewhat limits our expectations. So, could I respectfully suggest that at some point in the future you give some consideration to producing a video that is aimed at addressing these issues, as I am certain that us older and less agile subscribers would learn so much from your extensive knowledge and enthusiasm.

I think you just explained why AI generated pictures will never have "the story" of what it took to make a photo. Also, if you and I made the same photo (not that i will ever be as good as you) our journey and the stories we told would be different.

Hi ian. Well, that's a very interesting walk and shoot. You mentioned what photography equipment you had with you. But no mention of an emergency kit. Obviously, I do not know the geography of your location. But I was concerned about you becoming lost or injured. Maybe I'm over dramatic, but I think that it's a good idea to have some type of heat and shelter in your backpack. Just I case. You never know. You may find someone else who needs your help. Still, I will not continue to moan. Regards, David.
