You wondered why cattle were stolen by our ancestors. Cattle formed the lifeblood of the Highlands. The income from the autumn cattle sales would enable the purchase what were often seen as luxury goods. Cattle were often in spring and summer, fattened in places like an Coire Gabhal, then sold in autumn. Or held over to replace natural attrition and to therefore increase or strengthen flocks during breeding season and maybe sold in the spring sales. Subscribed
