Any chance you can somehow turn the volume up? For whatever reason your videos are like 3/5 as loud as everything else on youtube and its tough to hear you on a cell phone with full volume (much more so John than you) unless I am in a room that is completely silent.

My very fist instructional was John Danaher's Kimura System. I have gotten a few instructionals after that and I have come to realize that John's approach is the best standard and should be the industry standard. Other instructionals simply offer you techniques and might chain some of them together. Everything is interconnected in John's system, it is explained in painstaking detail, reasons are given as to WHY you do something, and he explains multiple ways in how a technique can fail and the response to those failures. On top of that, his stuff works!!! The big key to any instructional is that you have to find a good training partner and consistently drill the moves. That can get in the way of regular training sometimes but when you find the balance it works.

It is kind of a given that you are clearing the chin. Seems like most of the guys I roll with keep their chin tucked well. How do you get on the neck and past the chin? I am a newbie, so please forgive me if this is too much of an elementary question.

What always seems to be missing from these videos is the exact choking portion of the hand or wrist. After grabbing the chinstrap is the choke applied to the chinstrap or does Danaher slide up to the wrist for the choke? If the latter then how does he slide his hand to the wrist when Bernardo is keeping his chin tight and defending? After grabbing the the chinstrap what adjustments need to be made to the hand position against the neck for the choke?

I always thought my arms created a 90 degree angle. In reality the elbows are almost aligned it's just that when you change the head position and fall to the opposite side of the high elbow, you are able to get the elbow on top of the trapezius. This creates the high elbow. I was going crazy wondering why can't I get my elbow high and over the trap between neck and shoulder.

So the high elbow only really gets "high" after you switch the shoulder you're facing, everything before that is locking up the choke hand and the shoulder and maintaining that distance to his clavicle.

So is this version a blood choke, or a blade (pain) choke? Without the back of the neck compressed, can you still get a triangle-like compression to stop blood flow??
