I'm a huge supporter but Memes comment was really weird given this channels usual activity. They post usually once a month or twice a month. They literally had a high view of 5k last month. Seems like Meme is bashing supporters when he should be looking at the statistics. . As far as Star Wars goes , I hate toxic fans. But honestly alot of the Hyperspace fanclub members are simply not interested in another re-telling of the Old Republic. I love Disney and I love Star Wars but we are all struggling with this rebooted EU. . Personally I had issues with the redundancy of the original EU ......but if you ever decide to revist The New Jedi Order I will share the link . As far as High Republic? Its being " promoted".....but the fanclub proper is more interested in the Empire era .
@Geekritique3 жыл бұрын
I believe they’re referring to the fact that our Star Wars content never gets promoted. 19/20 YT just let’s it flop. Our output isn’t great, I agree. Although this isn’t Old Republic, I think fandom has been unnecessarily dismissive of this series. It’s very strong. I also enjoy the New Jedi Order. Great series of novels.

Haven't dug into these yet but this is the first really intriguing thing to come from the new canon so far in my opinion. Not just because it's a new story in the new canon but also not a story or era that was really covered in the EU either. That and the (seeming) lack of Skywalker connection makes it appealing.

Yep! That’s what has me so excited. It’s a totally fresh take on Star Wars. I’m kinda worried it’s gonna lead into the Skywalker saga down the line, but for now I can content myself with the fact that I have no idea what I’ll read about next.

There are also definitely differences in the descriptions of the Nihil and some errors among the three books, but I won't spoil things here. I've gotten the impression that Into the Dark was finished first.
@Geekritique3 жыл бұрын
Yes! I found it strange that after the Battle of Kur, some Jedi in Into the Dark had no inkling that the Nihil were destroyed, but on the Light of the Jedi side of things, all the Jedi seemed somewhat convinced of their decisive victory over the Nihil. Just weird they didn’t smooth this out.

@@Geekritique - Thank you for this. I know that this took a lot of time to set in order. Trying to figure out this kind of detail is extrememly specific (word choices within a sentence can alter a meaning or a plot). Out of all the content that has been published so far in The High Republic, in the different mediums and between the different authors...I think the few minor errors aren't too bad. I'm not a comic book reader in general. I have read comic books, but they don't give me enjoyment, like reading novels and short stories. So far, I have ONLY read Light of the Jedi, Test of Courage and Into the Dark. I found each of them entertaining. I liked Into the Dark, by Claudia Gray the best, with Charles Soule's Light of the Jedi next. Justina Ireland's book is Middle Grade, so has a very simplistic narrow story, though very good. I don't usually have to have everything in a timeline, especially for Star Wars...which literally has NEVER been told in a linear way *starting with Star Wars: Episode IV as the first movie". In fact, I have grown to trust the creators to keep the continuity for us (sometimes better, sometime not). I have now read 46 novels within the New Canon under Disney LucasFilm. I have enjoyed most all of them. Like you said, with this scope of a project, minor errors are bound to creep in, but really don't effect the plot too much (hopefully). Thank you for undertaking this timeline within this new era of Star Wars. This new time period feels different enough to spark interest, but also has the key elements of Star Wars within its DNA. Again, thank you for this tremendous undertaking. I hope that you continue to add to it, in each phase of the publishing becomes available. PS - I really hope that this post generates enough buzz to make it worh the time that you put into it.
@Geekritique3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Graff! Yeah, I agree. Though I grew up with comics, I find them far too short to keep me entertained nowadays. If I find any comics I definitely recommend/think you’ll enjoy, I’ll let you know about em. I also appreciate the non-linear storytelling approach to SW. I almost wonder if it’s told that way, or if certain plot holes are intentional, to present us with a story that feels as if mythological, and that’s been told time and again throughout the years.
@grafffuller32653 жыл бұрын
@@Geekritique - One thing that I think is interesting about non-linear storytelling within the Star Wars universe, plot holes and inaccuracies can be rectified by inventive storytelling devices. We have seen this done IMO, maginificiently in The Mandalorian by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. These two creatives have the "special sauce" to bridging the gap between inaccuracies and bad stories...and making them feel more real (if not better). I hope that they can "make right or better" the Sequel trilogy, by filling in the gaps. I didn't HATE the Sequels, but they also frustrated me because of these gaps in logic and understanding. I actually believe that the non-linear storytelling is allowing these two geniuses to make the overall tale better...by sprinkling in clues and information that connect these stories together. So, though I love it when things fit into their places within a story, when they don't work as well, a proficient person who understands the complexities of the universe and the lore can make things better, by putting certain elements in the universe BEFORE the events actually happin (in universe), but out of time within release that make the plot less offensive and actually fit within the world (both inside the world and in the real world). So, as a fan, I get excited when I see these Masters of the Universe in action. Makes me happier, than a broken fandom yelling and screaming at each other. Ugh. Thanks.

Thanks for this! Yeah, I’d noticed those little discrepancies too, but didn’t find them distracting. The stories are so good, and the new Jedi characters are pretty amazing. I’m a bit worried that they’re going to use the HR stuff to show why the Jedi are such a disaster in the PT, though. I’m just so bored of “the Jedi screwed up” stories. Give me a complex SW story where Jedi overcome their crap, and actually become better people! And save the “why the Jedi got screwed up” story for wayyyyy later in the HR timeline! Like, save it for The Acolyte. Okay, rant over!
@Geekritique3 жыл бұрын
I get that. I think we’re gonna get a bit of both. In Into the Dark we can already see discontented Jedi, but on the Light of the Jedi/Starlight side, we see Jedi doing seriously amazing things. But I do think whatever the Jedi are up to, they will be the reason for their own downfall and the rise of the Sith.
@jeffmiller60253 жыл бұрын
@@Geekritique I really hope it isn’t. At least not yet. I just really need a break and a chance to see the Jedi not suck for like a hundred years or so. 200 years is a long time, I hope they use it. And I’m just tired of the extremely worn out trope of “complex stories cannot have happy endings.”

High Republic Adventures shouldn’t it actually be before the main comic series since Marchion Ro has his old mask and not the new one on. Also with Test of Courage and the 1st issue of the main comic. My guess is that keeve and sskeer were on the planet then left to rescue Vern then went back to the planet last minute to complete Keeves trails. But maybe that’s a stretch idk.
@Geekritique3 жыл бұрын
As far as A Test of Courage, it’s possible? It’s a stretch, but it’s unlikely. As far as High Republic Adventures? That would make sense, but Starlight is already active, and Yoda and the Padawans have already come from it. It was Starlight that knew Yoda was still in the vicinity to aid them, so likely it must occur after. If that is Marchion Ro, then that changes things, but there’s been no word.
