Only issue iv ran into as a southpaw is, depending on the gun (and more specifically the bore height and location front to rear), is having the front side of the ejection port slam into my rh thumb. Interestingly enough i didnt realize untill id done some training with another gun and attempted that grip on the first.

When did Roger from QVO become left handed? Just kidding...Scott, it was awesome to be in your class and people just need to learn, this is the way.

Thanks for at least addressing this. As a left-handed shooter, depending on the pistol, we can run into problems that other people don’t understand, for example, the friction points vs smooth points are not always identical on either side of a slide.

I appreciate that, but if I am getting little bits of very hot metal on my thumb, what do I do then? (Buckmark .22 if it matters)

Any tips for avoiding riding the slide stop on a Glock or is that just a fact of life with a high thumb grip?

I just switched ALL my slide releases to Kagwerkz extended and raised

Tiny adjustment of where your thumb sits, that's all. I took Jedi's RDS class as a pretty new shooter running Springfield XDM. Had several thumb-ride slide stalls or stops when learning his Wave grip method. Jedi had me move the support thumb 'til it stopped interfering. Up to me to drill that in, though.

Thumbs shouldn’t be pointing up.

@@doug7040 Please explain why you have adopted this absolute.
@doug70403 ай бұрын
@@ModernSamuraiProject Any pistol instructor will tell you that. The control hand thumb should be parallel to the barrel, pointing at the target, resting along the lower. The grip hand thumb (for righties) often needs to cross over the base of the control hand thumb to avoid hitting the slide release, especially for smaller frame pistols. With thumbs pointing up like this, you’re increasing the chances of malfunctions. Again, no pistol instructor would say thumbs pointing up toward the sky is fine.
