We are planning on staying at this resort next year. You mentioned you had to reserve the pool...? Is it not open for all?

The pool is open to everyone at the resort, but you had to put your name down on a ledger ahead of time to "reserve" a slot. You can always try to show up at a given time and hope it's not taken -- we never had an issue.
