@@RONALDREAGENN lol, umm no...there really aren't many options other than pills. Perhaps UVA mood lighting but only a little else. The first rule of being bipolar is learning you're not in charge of anything. Telling yourself or others anything else is just a lie. Some of us live with depression so bad we get into a "why is this worth it" cycle. Try going through that for 2 or 3 months, and then tell me you think there are better options than pills. LOL, someone seriously bipolar has no choice BUT to use pills. If you think otherwise, you don't understand severe Manic Depression.

I've been following Daniel in poker since the 90's. I work in the BH/MH field. I am not a therapist, but I see the importance of talking about it, having support, recognition, and a platform to talk about it. I think it is awesome you and Amanda can have such candid and honest conversation about, as you both noted, a difficult topic. I am excited to listen, hear your thoughts, and experiences.

I appreciate and love that both of you are sharing your experiences! It is very courageous to share these things publicly, especially when you have a large platform. It definitely humanizes and shoes people a different side to your lives. It is so difficult to get to the stage you are and so difficult to find people that really get you and support you through those times where it gets really dark and rough. My therapist/physchiatisr originally told me Bipolar as well, which has now been switched to major depressive disorder and adhd, undiagnosed until about the same time period, in my 30s. I don't know which is right, but it is at least in the realm... I have finally found someone who is so supportive and understanding, and the people who can get to a point of understanding the condition and have support, too, make it so much easier. I also really appreciated the "why are you upset? No reason, I just am." So many people don't understand that can be a thing and end up saying shit like "suck it up. " It also breaks my heart hearing your mom can't get on board with the idea l, obviously she loves and supports you, but I have had friends commit suicide and the amount I hear "I never saw it coming, they were so happy" is insane to me. Masking is such a big part of this, too, because no one wants people to see them in their darkest moments, and all it takes is for people to pay attention, and the signs are there. No one is that good at masking. I'll be a regular listener! Thanks again! Love you both❤

OK, here's the answer to the falling asleep at 12:40: Dnegs, before you are going to go quiet, tell Amanda that you love her and are going to sleep. Then she knows it's over for the night and she can say she loves you! Simple! Love this podcast, I watch you both in poker and the Vlog, and feel somewhat invested in you, LOL. So I'm glad to learn a lot more about you and about Amanda, it makes you guys more like real people, and not just some rich poker player and his wife, who can buy anything they want. And I think this particular podcast will be helpful to people who may not realize they are bi-polar, and those who already know, and to their loved ones. But also, just interesting and I like the free style! Great job and look forward to seeing more of these. By the way, Amanda is right, Vegas is hard to meet girlfriends and neighbors! Moved here 10 years ago, and found it way harder than when I lived in CO. I've given this a lot of thought and I think it's 2-fold; most Vegas houses you don't look out the front of your house very often and see neighbors, because houses are designed to be lived in back and toward the backyard; and I think it's also because Vegas has a lot of people who work off hours or nights since it's a 24 hour city, so harder to meet neighbors and others due to these 2 things. IMO!

Was laid off last may … was in a low place … but found a good treatment program AND back at work making good money again so in a good place. Met dnegs at the 2021 WSOP GG party and talked to him briefly about mental health. One my most memorable moments of my life! I will be listening to each podcast.

I always love seeing Amanda on the vlogs. The banter and chemistry is great. If you allow me to get a bit parasocial here, I loved this episode because it showed me that you guys listen to each other and that the relationship is not just joking around, there is a lot of respect for each other. Oftentimes in the vlogs, Daniel is hyper and "on". He's in a "gogogo" mindset which doesn't leave as much space for others in the conversations. This conversation is refreshing and will allow me to enjoy the banter in the vlogs even more.

I was floored when I heard Amanda say that people with bipolar disorder cannot take SSRI's because two years ago, I participated in an Ayahuasca ceremony, which a component of that is THH, which is an SSRI! Wow that explains SO much for me and why I did some of the things I did and why I could not sleep. Thank you for this ❤☺️

Aw thank you so tuning in! We will have so much more to come. It won’t always be about bipolar, but I’ll talk about my experiences and if that helps you or anyone else, that’s amazing. Yes SSRI’s are bad for bipolars UNLESS they are an add on to a bipolar medication like an antipsychotic or mood stabilizer. Then it somehow works 🤷♀️ BUT never on its own. Hope that helps. 💙
