On December 25th 1994, a passenger plane belonging to Air France was making a trip between Paris and Algiers. An international incident began to mount as Air France Flight 8969 was taken over by four men. A stalemate lasting days would result in French GIGN intervening to take back control of the plane.

The purpose of that high jacked was to crash the plane with its fuel tank and its passenger on Paris. The Islamist did not give a flying g f..k about those Algerians, and never gave them any opportunities to leave. In fact they had already started to execute one of those Algerian in Algiers.

The highjackers sealed their fate when they killed the first hostage. If the soldiers attack and hostages are wounded, there would be great outcry for overuse of force. Once the passenger was killed, then the soldiers HAD to attack, before the highjackers killed any more. Politics is a subtle thing sometimes.

The GIGN (groupe d'intervention de la gendarmerie nationale) were hailed as heroes in France and rightly so. I still remember how glad I was when I heard that the passengers were ok and all the cockroaches neutralized.
@richardmillhousenixon
@richardmillhousenixon Жыл бұрын
The GIGN is fucking brutal. In all their years of existence they have carried out well over 1,000 missions, freed more than 500 hostages, arrested more than 1000 suspects, killed 12 suspects (4 of those twelve being the "cockroaches" we see in this video) and only lost 2 members in the line of duty, both being killed during the Paris attack in 2015. Most members not only carry a sidearm, but also a side-side arm, just so they can be completely confident that they can reliably put a bullet in a cockroaches dick 100% of the time.
@bassett_green
@bassett_green 2 жыл бұрын
18:05 that difficulty opening the door has an interesting cause. The GIGN had been using an empty plane to rehearse the raid. They brought the air stairs over, at the same height. But the passengers, fuel, etc all add weight and compress the plane's suspension. This meant the door was lower than expected, and the air stairs blocked the door from opening outward. You can see the vehicle back up quickly and the door swings free. The operator was unfamiliar with the height controls and made the wise decision to not try to figure it out in the moment

@alexdaley7616 2 жыл бұрын

in a French interview with a GIGN member they said that they did account for passengers and fuel in reharsals but the issue was that the terrorists started to escalate violence and demanded for the plane to be fueled to take off as soon as possible right before the assault, hence why the plane was heavier than expected, he did credit the operator driving the stairs for his quick thinking recognising what was wrong and backing up immediatly, essentially saying that he saved the entire operation right at this moment. After the refueling the terrorists moved the plane on the tarmac and they had to scrap their initial approach and improvise another which was much more dangerous and it was decided that the person driving the stairs would be replaced by a GIGN operator.

In the end the bodies of the dead hijackers shielded both captain dhelleme and F/E Alain bossait from fatal bullet wounds. Eventually they both survived F/E was handcuffed by the GIGN while Captain Dhelleme refused to put his hands up while leaving the aircraft. The GIA may not have attempted this kind of attack again, but they attacked France again the very next year in 1995 with a series of bombings, the worst one being in the Paris metro at Saint-Michel station killing 8 (a gas canister filled with explosives and nails). France activated its "Vigipirate" national security alert system with increased police presence at tourist sites and important locations. It was never lifted and is still in place, although there are different levels of alert and the measures vary accordingly.

If people knew of this, yet still stubbornly leave comments that are deemed to be threatening/harrassing Algerians, he would remove it. Not because he "doesn't like it", but because those comments would likely hurt others feelings. If I run a channel and I already pre-informed viewers that this has nothing to do with A, yet people are still attacking A, why would I leave comments with ill-intentions on my channel? If he removes comments that constructively criticises his work or comments that contradicts what he said (with evidence backing up said comment) as he pleases, then yes it's not objective. But this was something that he had mentioned being unrelated to the incident yet people are still attacking Algerians, that's just foolishness or bias. Fantastic video! Also, the Situation was brilliantly solved! Very sad that three innocent passengers were killed, but the outcome was otherwise unbelievably positive considering how difficult the situation was.

It's incredible those crazy bastards refused to surrender and give up. They were absolutely determined to open the gates of hell over Paris. Another thing noted is that the area where the plane would be blown up would be above the vicinity of multiple Paris landmarks, most of them symbols of France, such as the Eiffel Tower, Hotel de Ville, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre and the Montparnesse Tower. They intended to use the plane as an incendiary device that would send flaming wreckage upon the city and kill hundreds of Parisians. As terrifying as it was in America, Balladur and the GIGN should be aware they just prevented a French 9/11!

@@thedevil9743 this might be true for some and the idea of someone living in war and poverty taking arms to blow themselves up in a war against the state can easily be understood, but this completely misses the fanatical ideology aspect. If you look at the background of some famous terrorists, it's really not unusual to find well-educated and even wealthy people. Osama bin Laden came from a very rich family, his right hand in Al-Qaeda Ayman al-Zawahiri was a surgeon who grew up in a well-off neighborhood full of embassies, and even 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta was a brilliant student and became an architect. Most of them had families and kids. All of them left these riches and their comfort for the promise of an immense reward in paradise. You have to truly believe this and be fully convinced to your core to sacrifice yourself in this manner, that's way scarier than someone who "mentally snaps".

It’s interesting (and of course horrible) that these terrorists wanted to use the plane as a bomb, and then later on 9/11, those terrorists used planes as missiles. Ingenuity isn’t always a good thing.

It seems you could also thank god for the terrorists. He not only created them and put them into his "plan" but they use god as the main reason for what they're doing. It doesn't make much sense.
