This was one of Wes Cravens earlier movies so he was still basically learning. The in an outs of movie making when he made it. But I still prefer this one over the remake an the Hills have Eyes part 2 1984. Over the remakes because the remakes basically took the mutant hillbilly cannibals idea. From the original Wrong Turn movie an basically put them in the desert. With more blood an gore then What I think is called for. To tell this kind of story this is coming from me someone who likes the Terrifier movies. Wich is non spoiler basically about a killer that love to let's just say. Do horrible horrible things to people let's just say. It's like if you seen say Michael Myers skin someone alive on screen levels. That's what Art does to people but that works in the Terrifier movies. Because they are literally and figuratively about a brutal and sadistic psychopath. That loves to turter an kill people as slowly as possible for his own amusement. But that kind of thing doesn't really need to be shown in a story like this. As the late Vincent Price would say lots of blood and gore is. Only acceptable in movies an story's that call for it if it doesn't need it its just blood and gore. For the sake of blood and gore so he had no issues with lots of blood and gore. If it was needed for the story being told like in the movie The Theater of blood an another movie. But other then that he hated lots of blood and gore because it survived no perpus. Now about this movie rule number 1 if you seen that. Someone killed an gutted your dog or pet in the middle of the desert. You immediately tell everyone as soon as possible. Because that means there is other people out there that are dangerous. Because if he told them as soon as they got back. They could of got ready to defend themselves an been on gard. But he didn't so that made it easy for them to do all of those things. Because they didn't know about the danger that they were in. Rule number 1 information and knowledge saves lives. If they knew they would of all been in the trailer on gard. Ready for anything but he didn't tell them right away so the desert people. Where able to do all of that with any knowing.
