20 rep squats in combination with heavy curls, shrugs, and overhead presses for 5 years. No bench press at all and still built a 56" chest. Incredible. At 5'10 no less.

when I was a teenager and struggling to put weight on my 6 foot 6 frame, I was told to try these, and gained 30 pounds in a little over a year. Brutal, and still use them once in awhile at 58 years old. I hate/love them!

The biggest hurdle for me doing this is that I reach respiratory failure a lot earlier than muscular failure in the quads and glutes (though lower back gets a good hit). I`m sure a bit of patience will pay off but it`s a little disheartening coming into this after doing a lot of low rep heavy sets.
@LTPottenger
@LTPottenger 5 жыл бұрын
You should do breathing squats, with each rep there is a long pause and inhalation of maximum breath. This gives the best resutls anyway

I received the Super Squats book last night and finished reading it today. If squats are so hard, why does the program also include seated press behind the neck 3x10, bench press 3x10, bent over row 2x15, standing curls 2x10, rader chest pulls 2x20, stiff leg deadlifts 1x15, calf raises 3x20, and crunches 1 set of 25 reps? It also lists squats 5th exercise on the list. Shouldn't it be done 1st since it's the most taxing? Book doesn't explain. This sucks. I thought book would explain this.

i am actually doing this routine but in a more extreme version. 20 reps squats followed by 15 reps deadlift then bench press, ohp and rows. i also drink half gomad and i gained 10 pounds in 2 weeks. one of my friend gained 45 pounds of muscles in 6 months doing this routine and he was the skinniest guy in the gym before trying this routine. After 20 years of training expérience i can assure you that this is the most efficient program for hardgainers
