Though I'd argue that my skin color shouldnt really be a factor in the post racial world we conservatives like to say we now live in. All that said, with everything that I am as a man, I'm having a helluva time figuring out how I'm responsible for those Negroes behavior in Chicago, and aside from black skin, what do I have in common with them? Give me a reason why I should feel responsible or even connected to the behaviors of some people whom I've never met, over 1000 miles away from me? What connects me to them anymore than you? Will this holiday help end the narrative that peeps were stolen from africa? Peeps were sold. They were already slaves and then were sold. Now, you might get mad at this, but really think on it. Had they not been sold and brought to america, those blood lines would have ended... why would they have ended? Because slaves were already captured by warring tribes. In those tribes no one would have been allowed to sleep with each other. The captured women would have only been allowed to sleep with the tribe that captured them, not with the men(husbands) they were captured with. Which in turn would have completely destroyed their blood line. By being sold and sent to america their bloodline had a new chance to exist... no tribe would have allowed slaves to have babies from the men they captured. Therefore the only way American slaves could have a current genealogy is by coming to america. Being bought and brought to america literally saved your bloodlines that would have been smothered out by the tribes that enslaved your families to begin with..

The ending of slavery ON PAPER is what Juneteenth is about and yes, while some were actually freed, many weren't, especially in the South. Anyone who has studied the real history of this country knows that many slaves weren't even told about the Emancipation Proclamation, much less freed from it. There were still people in slavery well into the 1900's. Some of the last recorded slaves in this country were found in Lousiana. There were 20 of them at a place called Waterford Plantation in St Charles Parish. They were there into the early 1960's. The last recorded slave was a 14 year old girl named Mae Louise Walls Miller. She did not get her freedom until 1963. So for those who continue to say that slavery was just this thing that happened a long time ago that people should just move past and forget about, NO slavery was an institution that started before the US was a country and lasted 100 years AFTER the Civil war. Slavery didn't end on a paper. It ended when the LAST slave was truly free. Which was less than 70 years ago. THATS when slavery ended.

Right now, there's around two million of our people currently either languishing in prison and/or awaiting trial in jail. This is the highest incarceration rate in the world. Also, since you mentioned evil maniacal wardens, you should know that many countries see our prison system as an anathema and won't transfer prisoners here. The problem with Juneteenth, Texas was not the last state to abolish slavery. Delaware was. Since Delaware never succeeded from the union, he was not subject to the emancipation proclamation. Only when the 13th amendment to the constitution came into effect, did all states, have no enslaved persons. That occurred on December 31st, 1865.

The vast majority of the 250,000 slaves in Texas were white owned, of course. Nice try though. So many slaves ended up in Texas after the emancipation proclamation was issued because they were led on a forced March for hundreds of miles by white Southerners (not natives, not mexicans) in an effort to continue slavery in the American Southwest.

@Drowning poor alice Selective memory, it's fine if you want to look at it like that. But, industrialization starts with agriculture. Simply put, you can not build for years without getting hungry. And if you don't have to pay for your farms and things to be kept properly running. You can keep that industry going no problem. The war on woke is gonna keep people stupid; have a great day. P.S. You act like slavery started in the 1800s when you talk about immigration. Trans Atlantic Slavery has been around since hundreds of years before the beginning of this country near the end of the thirteenth century, the fourteen twenties. It was only after they became free, and you had to take care of your own fields. that's when they became lazy expletives, and thugs. And since that happened in 1865, the grudge against black america has always been @ full steam like a locomotive. And now that i've said what I said... I don't care what you believe or what you don't believe it's been said.
