Two renowned authors virtually guide guests to local landmarks, telling stories of life at the western tip of Lake Superior before Duluth, Minnesota existed, and how it came to be 150 years ago - from the Seven Fires prophecies of the Ojibwe to the creation of the ship canal. Marking Duluth’s 150th anniversary, in support of the Duluth Public Library.
Local author Tom Peacock, who grew up in Fond du Lac and earned his Ph.D. at Harvard, relates the astonishing story of the Seven Fires: seven prophecies revealed to the Ojibwe 900 years ago that urged them to travel west from what is now Newfoundland in eastern Canada.
Tony Dierckins, another gifted author and publisher of ZenithCity.com, a website devoted to Duluth history, recounts the compelling story of the cities founding. He introduces Jay Cooke, the man who changed the course of Duluth’s history by bringing investors’ money and a vision for a railroad and ship canal to Duluth.

I was stationed in Duluth from 1972 to 1975. One day I will return to this, my favorite city.

This is such a nice video! I am very interested in your area. I would love to see some of these types of things on youtube video in my region. It is so nice to see that you are sharing the history, as it is meant to be shared, and not buried and hidden away when we have the technology to make it so prominent!

I lived in Duluth during the 1970s. The treatment of the native people really saddens me. I heard nothing of it while I lived in Duluth.
