when I was kid I never really cared for the narrow gauge engines but this was in the days of the hit era so it’s obvious why. but then I saw the classic series and I was surprised to see how different they were.

Peter Sam is such an iconic narrow-gauge character in Thomas history. I think he and Skarloey are both characters Awdry enjoyed writing for (he doesn't have a favorite character going by his statement that his engine characters are a family, but if you were to ask which ones he enjoy writing for, it's no secret that it would've been obvious for a few characters and their arcs). And since Peter Sam's small scale model was on display at the premiere of An Unlikely Fandom, the popularity of him has sky-rocketed even more. It's funny how unlike how he performed well with his special funnel, his real counterpart who wore said-funnel that was an experiment didn't work so well. I have learned that the Gisel Ejector was used on other engines including the Austerity Tanks, a few engines from Japan, even the BR 9Fs and SR Light Pacifics. I can imagine a story idea where Peter Sam has his special funnel removed and reverted back to his old one much to his sadness, and when he finds out another engine has the former funnel modified to them (either Rebecca or Murdoch), he snaps believing it was stolen until he was reassured it wasn't. Then again, TheLOKRailfan already did a story on DeviantArt about it (but never the other part about the funnel being used as a spare and only focused on Peter Sam and Sir Handel).

Underrated character, my favorite of the Narrow gauge engine.
@karenfan0106 ай бұрын
14:35 this logically makes sense because these stories take place around the 80’s and 90’s meaning he’s around the same age skalroey was when he originally arrived and has humbled a lot in his decades of living.

(Sir Handel's song about Peter Sam's special funnel) Peter Sam said again and again, His new funnel will put us to shame. Went into the tunnel, lost his old funnel, Now his famous new funnel's a drain.

Agreed, I always thought that Peter Sam was the nieve and innocent younger brother, and Sir Handel was the more cocky and quick to anger older brother who is able to take advantage of Peter Sam's nieve nature, and Duke is the no nonsense and also protective father.

Well yes, but I also want to use my own spin on it. Hence why I split the sections by era instead of presentation, and the addition of a whole section for the basis of the engine.

I see that with Duncan and Peter Sam, I believe they get along better than how Duncan would interact with Skarloey. Think about it. Skarloey does not stand for Duncan's nonsense. He is cross with him for stopping on the viaduct, he and his brother/friend Rheneas hate being bossed about by him despite putting up with him anyway, he is shocked when Duncan's driver acts like an idiot so Duncan can cross an unsafe bridge to prove Rusty wrong, Duncan made Skarloey cross when he took his passenger coaches to try doing everything to impress a very grumpy passenger who happened to be an old friend of the Thin Controller, made Skarloey sad when Duncan wasn't showing his Christmas spirit, and I think that's about it. Little does Peter Sam know about Duncan that Duncan is insensible and prone to stubbornness and sometimes didn't tell the truth. Almost on that level of James or Gordon in a way. How I could say that Peter Sam is often times as naive as Percy. Oh, and Mattel making the SKR engines "unmarketable" is stupid on their logic given the fact they deserve just the same attention as the standard gauge engines. So that's obviously a you problem on Mattel and not anyone else's.
@SodorFan1510 ай бұрын
Yes I totally agree. I think the reason they're "unmarketable" is because of they're small size. Thomas toys are already small, so they probably just to lazy to make toys in correct scale. But uh, can you please remove the s word in this comment? I'd really prefer to keep profanity of the channel in all regards.

I have to disagree on Peter Sam acting as the older sibling than Sir Handel. The way I see it, Sir Handel acts as the older yet stubborn and high-opinionated Engine while Peter Sam is more responsible yet naive which plays into his more youthful side.

Sorry for my ignorance but why didn't Mattel consider narrow gauge engines commercial?
@SodorFan15Күн бұрын
I think it's because they're smaller, and could be choking hazards.
@donald9studios838Күн бұрын
@@SodorFan15 Will it be? I think that the size would have nothing to do with it because before they did not respect the size, they were the same as the standard track ones, maybe Mattel saw that they did not buy much of their merch or there was no interest In children, But they really are very good characters, I stayed with the landscapes and stories that we were used to in the classic era.

@brendanhanley27419 ай бұрын
Although Duke is actually able to run without a tender for short distances as his tender only carries coal and the saddle tank can hold the water therefore there is no water pipe fused between his cab and tender so Duke not having his tender in new little engine is kinda accurate once you think about it
