It’s crazy how this works. I got surgery when i was 11, and the moment they started administering it all i did was blink and then the next thing i knew i was another room with a cast on my feet and a teddy bear in my arms lol
@Karen-tt3dt4 жыл бұрын
That’s similar to what I experienced and I’ve been wanting to learn about it and pursue a career. I had tonsil surgery performed and it was painful afterwards but my experience while getting anesthesia was the most interesting medical experience I’ve seen and felt.

Thank you for creating this video! Priestley discovered N2O in the late 1700s, not late 1800s. Also, the contributions of nurse anesthetists (dating back to the 1860s) to the widespread and largely safe administration of anesthesia would have made for a more complete history.

Excellent video. I wish they'd shown us this at the beginning of our anaesthetics rotation rather than just sending us to theatre with a logbook!

Do a video on CRNA vs Anesthesiologist MD?
@WeruleMASTER8 жыл бұрын
I'm starting medical school this fall and am really interested in anesthesiology. My only concern is the job outlook in the next few years, given the fact that CRNAs are gaining more "popularity" because hospitals and clinics only have to pay them a fraction of what an anesthesiologist would make. What are your thoughts on this? Did you consider this before pursuing anesthesiology?
@cm2carrillo8 жыл бұрын
2025 CRNAs are going to have to have a PHd. No doubt to cause the popularity to dwindle.

I expect mid level saturation. It's too good of a gig. Word gets around.
@mirandaharris98717 жыл бұрын
A lot of people do not know this but "mid level" is a very insulting slang term in regards to other professions that you may be referring to. The correct term is colleague. If you thought about the term it is essentially stating that "mid-levels" are health professionals that provide average care and which then eludes to..well then who is giving high-level care...the MDs. There are nurses who are advanced practice nurses and they are trained professionals that are not mid-level providers. Their title is NP or CRNAs or something else and they in most instances work autonomously. It's just disrespectful.. I would never call a MD a high-level..we all have our titles. We work in collaborative efforts with each other as a pivotal unit from the nurse to MD to Radiology tech to DO and all of us have worked too hard in academia to receive higher education in our chosen careers to be insulted in that manner. Im just spreading knowledge on the term because so many individuals don't realize what they are even saying most of the time. God Bless
@kevinwu7867 жыл бұрын
I would disagree with you Miranda. "Mid-level" is neither slang nor meant as an insult. The term can prevent confusion and disorganization in the hospital. Seeing a doctor is technically a higher level of care than seeing a PA or NP. This absolutely does not mean that mid-levels provide inferior care (in many instances, they can provide better care than the doctors), but doctors receive higher level and longer training to be qualified as the "leaders of the ship." As such, higher-level providers are legally allowed to perform the more complex procedures that they trained in residency for/make final decisions on clinical care of patients/lead a team (such as a trauma team).

How do you plan on using what you were taught as a D.O. and use it daily as an anesthesiologist????
@chadbird29248 жыл бұрын
+Antic How-To it was amazing! We met with about a dozen patients, and had a few codes because my doctor was on call. I observed 2 Balloon angioplasty with stinting and with involving an angiojet suction. I am going to be shadowing him for the next 3 semesters. I also met with the chief of medicine, the senior heart surgeon, and an interventional radiology yesterday who all want me to observe them in procedures during the summer

Now that your four years are almost up, are you glad you made the decision to go to medical school and become a physician? I know that many people are hesitant to embark on this endeavor and was wondering if you were happy that you decided to get the four years over with and now it's over(in terms of school that is)?
