Played this one a lot in the '80s. It was the loudest game in Aladin's Castle. Robo Cop 2 also showed this arcade game in the background. You can hear the dogs barking in the film. I also believe the game Guacamele 2 makes fun of the game, showing the scene at the beginning.

One of my favorite games of all time. Me and a friend of mine used to fill this old arcade machine with quarters when we were kids. This is one of the granddaddies of beat-em-ups, and I'm so thankful I got to enjoy it when I was young. When it came out on the NES, we were so excited and rented it from our local Gas City gas station. I remember playing this for hours and hours on his old NES. Good times. Great memories. It's a shame this game never got ported over to the Sega Genesis. Two Crude Dudes was pretty cool but I would have much preferred this original than the sequel. Aside from reducing some of the colors and cutting back the total amount of enemies on screen at once it could have been more than possible. Especially back then as Data East was on a roll with releasing games for the platform in the early 90s. I've read a couple people say the game was past it's prime and too old back when the Genesis was hot. If that's the case they wouldn't have released Joe & Mac 3 years later from it's Arcade release in 1994. But anyway, excellent review as always and thanks for The History of Rampage last week! 😎

I grew up with the C64 version (connected to a screen who was capable only of displaying colours in shades of green, like a giant Game Boy), but the original Arcade version was one of my favourite games of all time and the reason why I am in love with Data East productions nowadays! I picked up a Data East Arcade Collection on Evercade just because of it (and Tumblepop also).

I always thought the Arcade game was called, Two Bad Dudes. Then the NES was just called, Bad Dudes because you could only play as one player. I was looking for this game for years, but it wasn't until fall of 2023 when I got the Data East Collection on my Mini EverCade. Then I realized I've been looking for the wrong title all these years: it was just Bad Dudes! It is always fun to watch your videos especially the sound part of it. We just take for granite how good it is now a days, but back then it was really just a bunch of different tones of beeps that I lived thru. Ha-Ha?

Another fine video! It's a shame the movie didn't happen, as I always felt there are few classic arcade games that could translate as well into a campy low-budget flick! I ordered Bad Dudes for the C64, but it got delayed for over 6 (maybe 8?) months. When it finally arrived, I'd completely forgotten I'd ordered it, so it was a pretty awesome surprise.

The music in the NES port is a LOT more lively than the Arcade original. As for the conversion, it was done by developer Sakata SAS, in which they also did the NES version of Robocop, also published by Data East. Sakata SAS also developed the Super Famicom port of the Neo Geo game, Sengoku.
