BBI, Cha Chas antenna setup on the van is a pair of 3 element LFA (loop fed array) fed in phase. The elements at the front of the van are reflectors, the loops about 2 feet back are the driven elements, the elements towards the rear of the van are directors. The spacing between the 2 3 element beams is set at optimum for gain, and the REAL SECRET behind this antenna design is that its close enough to the ground to have a measure of ground coupling. I suspect that the entire design is modeled on a 3/4 wave element. The advantages of an LFA driven array are full wave closed loop feed system, 50 ohm direct feed. High front to back ratio. Super wide bandwidth. The antenna is affected by the van however the angle of the passive elements is such that the current is higher up on the element lessening the interaction, another reason for using 3/4 wave elements. Gain probably somewhere around 12 db so roughly multiply the input power by 4. You guys understand about gain. Very neat antenna.

Smiling! Don't even run CB, but enjoyed the chat with Bob. Didn't know what a shoot out was, but now I do. That's a guy who can honestly say; Been there done that. I tune my 7300 around listing but never here much on my Th7Dx antenna. Tested it today and the SWR is better on 27mhz than 28mhz, not much but is. Watch a lot of your videos, Good stuff. Don't understand solid state but picking up a little the more I watch. Got some Home Brew amps 4-1000A and a pair of 3-400z they do ok for the ham stuff I do on 80m, but always wanted something to drive the 4-1000A with more than 100 watts. That 100 W will give me 1300 cw dead key to the dummy load. 73

I once talked to Dutch Harbor, Alaska from Minden, Nevada with a 4 watt Radio Shack CB, 102" whip on the back of a FJ40 Landcruiser. 2400 miles. Sounded like he was sitting in the truck with me. The antenna is important, but so are conditions. I'm no expert, but, If your antenna and ground aren't right, and a lot of other stuff, there's a good chance you'll destroy your radio and/or your amp. You need to get a guy like Bob or BBI to set you straight.

Theory is like a whip the corner rear passenger to driver front and tune the elements to reflect and increase gain. You're in the right direction.
@thetriode Жыл бұрын
You put the nitrous bottle on the batteries to heat it up. At 20A a transistor at 22V you're talking 440W/746W/HP=.589HP per transistor BEFORE inefficiencies. If you're talking 70% efficiency of your alternators you're at ~.84HP/transistor and there's probably some more inefficiencies in things like the wiring its self. I'd think nearing 1hp/transistor not implausible.
@nickl38723 жыл бұрын

Iam not totally educated with the mobile operation side of this but instead of having two dozen alternators, Why aren't people using diesel generators to generate the amperage?.

I see Bob's two towers. I see the beam just wondering I see seven elements how long is the Boom?. And I'm not going to copy the antenna. One reason I ask... Everybody goes with oh you got to have more elements to get all that Gain. Yeah I know better than that it's the length of the Boom that helps with DB gain. By the way nice house towers look great and the antennas look great too great video.

Shashas van reminds me of a slot design.... Look up how slot antennas work.... It's crazy My own opinion..... And I don't know that much.... Just 24 years of radio fun. . . . I carona discharge is. Awesome.... Just like a Tesla coil ... dipoles have high voltage on the ends and high current in the middle.... When fed in the middle.... Really it's really high voltage that saturated the conductor and had to escape into the air..... 20k plus volts.... And knowing the power running there..... The high voltage was pretty high.... Lol

I am going to be that guy on this video. BBI stop interrupting these guys. Turn the camera on and start the video with tell us about your involvement with cb radio. And sit back and listen. Every video so far you have gotten these guys off track off subject and it takes a little bit to get them back on track. I cant classify Bob and a Legend. Here is why....99% of his shootout 🏆s is from the same club. So he waa keying against west coast mobiles and the same ones just about everytime. We have really never had a big mobile class on the west coast. Let me clarify that...name all of the 48 to 64 pill mobiles. Will Kill had 2 32s with a combiner box. I know of one other really big box that I cant talk about that i seen with my own eyes. Number 10 had a really good mobile in the mid 90s that won alot. Viper in LA had a big mobile that was hard to beat. The biggest classes on the West Coast was 16 and below. Sky High was 16 thru 32. So really the competition really wasnt there. So a Legend depends when you came into the shootout scene and wins in California ok maybe. But compare to a East Coast champion with wins in multiple states like more than 3 then No.
@MrOlred773 жыл бұрын
He never said he was...... Didn't you hear him in the beginning..... But obviously you ain't finished cleaning the cotton outta your ears or you got selective hearing..... Always someone that's got an opinion that says otherwise...... Yes bullet has never shot out on the east coast...... So I guess we will never know how well he could've done..... He was gonna build an ac sky rig like he said in the video and eventually drive back, compete..... but with his health and not being able to drive long hours at a time by himself, most of the time folks couldn't take the time off work to go with him or being able to save enough money to take a week or so off work to go with him...... I know, cause I was gonna go a few times with him but couldn't afford to go at that particular moment due to financial reasons.... Besides the fact that mostly everyone flaking on him at the last minute..... So therefore that epiphany never got off the ground and made it to reality..... Instead he made it into a DC rig and sold it to 918 outta Sacramento, but that's a whole different story of it's entirety......... Would Bullet have made a name for himself in the shoot out community in the Midwest or the East coast...... I think he would've, if his health wasn't a problem..... The man has been through a whole hell of a lot dealing with his Cancer treatments his parents and just plain life in general..... I've known that man for close to 25 years and talk to him at least once or twice a month...... He may not be a legend in your eyes, but to those in the CB community he's been a staple for nearly 50 years.... talked all over God's creation and then some........ So yes.... in some aspects he is legendary.... maybe not in competition shoot outs.... But anywhere else in the 11meter world 🌎 let's just say he's world famous locally and agree to disagree about his stature of humble beginnings and who he's evolved into today....
