I second this request. While living in Prague, I had an apartment on a street that was named after the capital of Serbia which translated into English comes out to be White Castle.

If you look closely you'll notice in the Thumbnail old school Logo, the King's Feet are standing on the Lettuce. It's a longstanding Burger King Tradition.

I accidentally tried to order a Big Mac the other day at Burger King after work. The girl just laughed, "you mean a Whopper?" I didn't even realize I said it. "Did I say Big Mac??" She laughed again. I apologized and replied "I'm not even high!" She said it happens all the time and I made her day. Mistakes were made...🍔🤷🏼♂

The Big King is BK's anwer to the Big Mac. I think they still exist. I add Ketchup to both sandwiches.

The closest Burger King to my high school had a plaque on it proclaiming it was the first Burger King in Illinois. I never bothered to question that fact until watching this story. Paused the video to read the article and, sure enough, first one opened in Skokie, Illinois. It was located at 8225 Skokie Boulevard. Today it's an Enterprise car rental.

$1.39 CAD Whoppers during the mid to late 90s. The newspaper would also have "buy one get one free" whopper coupons once a month lol

This is a great piece, I am an American, I live in a large city and one night I was driving around and I noticed one of my schoolmates from high school. His car was parked outside of a local Burger King and it was late so I pulled up in the parking lot and I went to the door. Of course the restaurant was closed and I could hear music from inside the restaurant. So, I knocked on the glass doors loudly and my schoolmate came up to the door and unlocked it and let me inside. Come to find out, he had his boombox blasting inside the restaurant while he was working inside the kitchen cleaning the flame broiler machine and getting paid a differential which I thought was awesome. He showed me how the machine worked and so after I got into college I was able to take a trip all the way down to Australia and I was able to explore both the cities of Sydney as well as Melbourne. Even though a lot of their restaurants were Italian in nature, I did run across one restaurant that was called Burger Jack and it looked exactly like a Burger King like we have in the states. So, I went inside and bought a burger. It was delicious. There were some minor differences between the Burger King in the states and the Burger Jack restaurant that was in Australia but the burger was delicious. I’m an American and I was able to take a trip up to Canada and I was able to get a Burger King burger. However, the restaurant as well as the kitchen looked very disheveled and I didn’t want to eat there in that restaurant. Since I had all my Canadian money in my wallet with me I didn’t want to spend any of it in a restaurant that looked like a train wreck. Again, I’m an American, other than a Canadian restaurant everything concerning Burger King and Burger Jack was delicious. Take care and have it your way, peace out… I’m going to get something to eat now because I’m hungry.

Great to see your take on the King and burger history in general. Other videos on yt specifically cite Texas's own Whataburger as the inspiration of the Whopper.

Very impressive and comprehensive history of BK; Kudos! I had my first Whopper in August of 1966 (for $0.37) and was amazed at the taste & size of the Whopper. Made me very thankful I lived in a country that gave me this experience and value. However good things don't last and two months later BK raised the price a nickel to $0.42, so I was hooked and now I had to pay; cruel lesson for an 11yo. Seriously, the Whopper is a sandwich that I've enjoyed for decades, save for a few years when there was an alternative, called the Dandy Burger (Yankee Doodle restaurants). I still look forward to eating a Whopper, however the experience of buying a Whopper is severely degraded. Hopping very much that BK can get its feet back under itself

I wouldn't exist without Burger King. My parents met working at one. Without it, they likely would never have even met because he came to Georgia recently and didn't know anyone until he met them.

You did not mention that BK was sued in Australia and had to change it's name to Hungry Jacks. When the chain became successful in Australia BK tried to short change the franchisee as they opened BK stores in opposition to Hungry Jacks near by. No one in Australia went to BK and they went bankrupt and pulled out of Australia. Hungry Jacks is still here and under the control of the same franchisee.

The Burger King fast food chain opened in Springfield, Ohio twice: Burger King operated under the name "Home of the Whopper" in the 1970s, since an existing burger stand using the "Burger King" name already existed and lasted until 1985. Burger King tried Springfield, Ohio again in 1993 under the Burger King name after the local Burger King chain was long-gone.

Burger is not the name of the meat patty...the Germans call them Frikadellen...it's the style of food (a bun featuring cooked hot meat with other fillings) invented by the people of Hamburg...a person from Hamburg is called a Hamburger hence the name...this is similar to the Berliner bun...a doughnut without the hole, filled with fruit sauce or custard and drizzled with icing. The origins are from Berlin and a person from Berlin is called a Berliner.
