Cailou’s problem was him trying to be both relatable and a role model for kids. Role models aren’t supposed to be relatable, they’re supposed to be an ideal that you should to live up to. For example, Elmo isn’t very relatable as a character. What kids are supposed to do is look at how kind and compassionate Elmo is, notice the way all his friends love him, internalize that, and grow up with the message of treating others with kindness. Same goes for Superman. Cailou should’ve either been unrealistically kind and well behaved, or be a realistic toddler and get visibly punished for his actions.

Your a kid who doesn't know what is good, so a child getting whatever he wanted seemed like heaven lol. Thank god my mother and father weren't dumb enough to just let me act like that character. Now I look back at it in disgust. God it kills me to think that I liked this as a child, but your very impressionable as a child so it makes sense. Which is even more of a reason that if you are a parent you should monitor what your children are experiencing on television and through their daily life. Basically what I'm saying is..... don't just sit them in front of some shit like cocomelon and make the same mistake your parents did with Caillou lol.

He may be acting spoiled because he oftentimes didn't get what he really wanted, but that's still okay! It really doesn't matter to me about his childish behavior. Fifth of all, the so-called "logic" is not any stupider than anything in the history of whatsoever. And sixth of all, tell me, are you going to refer all this to the entire _Dragon Ball_ series collection, not _Caillou,_ because he is definitely and absolutely _off limits!_

I've got a similar situation going on. Kid's smart beyond his years, but the lack of discipline makes him do things that I'm surprised he isn't bullied into the next dimension for. Especially the way he's being conditioned to treat women due to his role models in that regard. There isn't help for it really, spoiling and not disciplining your kid isn't seen as abuse as it's technically not harming their physical well-being, even though it will once they get old enough for their misguided view of the world to start having consequences.

For some reason Caillou actually taught me a lesson at one point. Whenever I was a child I was afraid of bees and I would always freak out. But I was watching sprout one day and I saw this episode of Caillou where they told me to stay still whenever a bee is near me and they won't sting me, and it actually worked. The concept of having a very flawed child that learns lessons over time is a solid idea, but the show really does not handle it well. I once read an article about the fact that basically every baby and toddler is a narcissist. In the first years of a kids life they just are aware of their own needs and emotions. They throw tantrums because they cant understand when their needs and emotions are not met. This first years is when they learn the concept of things consequences of action (touching a hot plate hurts for example), empathy and other social skills. They learn that not only their needs and emotions exist, but that others have the same feelings too, and that they can influence other peoples feelings (making them happy with giving them a hug etc.). So parenting basically means to train their kids NOT to be narcissists, which is kinda the default setting for toddlers. By not raising your kid, and setting boundaries or praising good social behavior you are basically allowing your kid to stay a narcissist, so they will eventually fail to understand why life around them doesn't work the way it did then they where little. So they have to gradually learn from their surroundings and hope to cope some day. Furthermore enabling a toddlers negative behavior like seen in the show will very likely actively make them narcissist as adults. So yeah, that kid is gonna be a serial killer lol.

I'm glad I was interested in other shows at the time and not calliou.
@Polar_Bear711 ай бұрын
@@morganrussman it happens with a lot of shows. Kids shouldn’t be watching cartoons for hours every day. Currently my niece will mimic the little girl from “Masha and the Bear”. I don’t think shows for kids should demonstrate bad behaviors, or some weird process where the kid does something bad then learns. Irl, no kid actually understands that’s the point. The show is just entertainment, and sadly, when a kid spends hours a day, every day, for years watching tv, it becomes a way for them to learn socialization. Kids are really simple, they just need to be treated like kids and given a proper explanation along with a punishment they can understand. They need an adult who’s in control of their emotions and reactions, and knows punishment exists for a reason.
@tiahnarodriguez380910 ай бұрын
@@Polar_Bear7 Kids are capable of understanding lessons depicted in kid’s shows, but it depends on their level of rationale. A two year old watches shows for entertainment, but at a bit older like five+ we can see kids display some level of rational, but at the same time it depends on the individual cuz some people don’t learn at all. The solution is to monitor your kids and keep their tv consumption to what they can handle.
@ZhovtoBlakytniy10 ай бұрын
Oh, Masha... She's got way too much energy, though, exhausting to watch her bounce off of everything. She gave my kid kasha cravings from an episode where she made too much kasha (semolina porridge) and my daughter wanted to try it. And the bear has delusions of grandeur. I watch everything like that with my kids. They think she's bad, but they like to watch it for language reasons. Nowadays there are better cartoons for that and we stopped Masha i Medved.

@@Polar_Bear7reminds me of when I was a kid and I would mimic Courage the Cowardly Dog. It was my favorite show. My mom didn't understand why I acted that way until years later, but she thought it was adorable. I guess kids imitating cartoons isn't always bad. I was very easy to scare, but Courage taught me to face my fears, which I guess is a very important lesson to learn at that age I still can't watch the Kimg Ramses episode, though 😂😂😂😂

You know what's funny? My parents apparently did such a good job disciplining me that I hated his behavior by the time I was 6-7 years old. I was like, "Stop acting like a baby, Caillou, this is embarrassing!" I often switched the TV off or changed channels when his show came on (my parents were kind enough to teach me how to change it to other appropriate channels, so I didn't have to suffer). The only show that was stupider or more annoying to me at that age was Barney, UGH. I still cringe to this day at his "I love you" song.
