Reminder: A metric shit ton of Chinese females remain looking 20-30(middling) aS long as they are below the age of mid 50s. Always in their early 40s, and some times (if your lucky) even into their 60s Edit: because I forgot to mention that this requires an untrained eye (if your not intimately familiar with the way age effects the Chinese face) and amazingly enough. Even if you do eventually acquire the ability to notice the signs of aging in the Chinese (which is entirely different from the way other races age) they still look young to you/me because we are accustomed to the way caucasian/etc women age... which is horrible in comparison to Chinese women. While Chun-li began training in Chinese martial arts, according to Akira Nishitani, she also studied other martial arts; like full contact Karate, Judo, Taekwondo, and Capoeira. Her regular and special moves are a reflection of her training: - Roundhouse kick and fierce punch come from Karate. - Standing hard kick, lightning legs, vertical spin kick, and hazanshu come from Taekwondo. - Her throw comes from Judo. - Spinning bird kick is Capoeira.

One of my all-time favorite video game characters. Chun-Li is endlessly awesome and it's great to see a full video dedicated to her. The first time I ever tried Street Fighter II, she was the character I chose. While I eventually learned how to play as everyone on the roster, Chun-Li is my favorite and the one I still go back to whenever I play.

I remember plunking in quarters, and choosing her first. The moveset, flow, power, and beauty. There was no one else like her. Alpha, her origin, still an awesome journey. 3rd Strike. Seeing her return in a later story, her abilities, and energy also grew. Teacher, most definitely a mom, adopting the young girl she saved. A caring beautiful heart, and soul. Always. Excellent coverage of her legacy. She is one of the mainstays of this series, and paved the way for more female characters to take on all challengers.

I think it's weird how despite being the main female character in SF, Chun-Li never canonically met the series hero Ryu until the _Ties That Bind_ ova.

Nope. She met him in Alpha 3. And he inspired her to improve her skills. As that’s what Ryu does for everyone. But she rarely interacts with him cuz they have their own paths and goals. Ryu is a wandering warrior and has chosen that. Chun-Li currently is an orphan caretaker and teaches said orphans martial arts.

i love chun li's friendly nature with her friends(especially ryu,cammy in a comic showing her trying her quiapo & sakura who i'd love to see more interactions with.) along with becoming a mother to the adopted kids and li feng,is my favorite to play in street fighter 2 & love her being a battle couple with ryu with the respect they have(would love to see her,morrigan,viewtiful joe & a power stone character in super smash bros.)that they appear the most in the vs. games was my favorite part of street fighter 2:the animated movie(wish we saw her help ryu & ken fight m. bison but the battle with vega was awesome.)/find it funny in 2v she's a precursor to sakura considering in supplementary material she originally had a hero worship towards ryu(that i'm convinced influenced mai shiranui as fatal fury's creators worked on street fighter.) and her live action actor ming na actually still in love with chun li & her role in the movie today.(would've been funny in wreck it ralph 2 if chun li & mulan interacted as a joke.:3)

I vividly remember my very first experience with street fighter during my childhood back in the late 90s, seeing SFA2 being played on the PSone at my friend's apartment in his bedroom, Chun-Li immediately stuck out to me as a kid, her outfit and that legendary kick combo had me hooked

Her Chinese dress is called a Qipao, pronounced "KEE-pao". Not "Qua-PEI-Oh". :) :) :) Other than that, I've been looking forward to this one. I read in a manga back 1995 that VEGA was the one to kill Chun Lis father. That story line is so much more interesting knowing that Vega and Chun li are fast jumping all over the place fighters, Vega was the cunning and sadistic assassin in the anime. Vega being his killer would make their relationship so much more. also they are both my favorite in SF characters.

You might not be able to bring to life a chinese woman with the thighs and breast of Chun-Li but just about any common beauty chinese woman in China would have been a completely better choice to play Chun-Li then Kristin Kreuk, But even if you got a decent Chun-li and put her in the actual Qipao that so many cosplaying girls have put on. You still couldn't get past that it was one horrible movie. Even a not so bad it's good movie. Chun-Li deserved better.

@@petiteexplication6249 NRS has said they'd love to collab actually with SF but Capcom were the ones to say they don't want to see Chun-Li or Ken get their heads chopped off or cut in half so there would have to be compromises made. NRS said the same more or less since they don't want to disappoint their fanbase while watering down MK where as Capcom is the opposite angle they don't want to see their characters their fans love get mutilated. So its a tricky situation honestly. Both NRS and Capcom said they'd love to see a crossover but sadly will never happen unless one side bends the the knee to the other which I dont see happening lol. Mk is just too hardcore for SF and most franchises to be honest.

As a gamer that grew up watching the landscape of video games be dominated by male characters, with female characters being largely reduced to secondary characters (or victims for the male character to rescue) I was immediately drawn to Chun Li and and Capcom did not disappoint. She was high-tier from her first showing in SF II, her movement speed and wall jump, combined with attacks like the toe-tap or medium jump kick, made her entirely unique within a game that was already unique for its time. Chun Li is literally the reason I've been playing agility characters over brutes for the last 30 years of video gaming.

I'm from the historically extemely catholic and painfully local Flanders. When baby me first saw Chun Li in action in an arcade i was completely stunned by the idea alone: A cute girl that straight up fights a bunch of intimidating dudes. An no one is holding back at all!!
