Can't tell you how much I've loved these "The History of Godzilla..." series. Look forward to it every time I see a notification! Well done man. This was one of the first Godzilla movies I watched after the original Gojira as a child, and really made me an Anguirus fan....or as I affectionately referred to him as a kid, "Pokey monster". Great video!!

This was the first Godzilla movie I saw. Watched it on TV at the age of four in 1974. Still remember seeing Mothra destroy that train and then Toyko get destroyed. This is the "All Star" of Toho Kaiju movies. That's why it's very popular. The plot could have been alot better, but the big fight scene is what makes it so loveable. Good job as always with your analysis! Keep it up!👍

This is my favourite Godzilla film still. I will admit the alien plot does feel like a retread in hindsight, but I just love the monster battles & global attacks along with the futuristic setting that when I first watched it was only 6 years away... which for an 8 year old was an amazing prospect along with Back to the Future 2's 2015.

Still one of my favorites despite the lack of monster action, the final battle makes up for it. Imagine if Final Wars had followed this more closely and had a massive melee at the end with the Earth monsters breaking free of the Xillians' mind control and battling Gigan and Keizer Ghidorah. Zilla would have really redeemed himself if he got to lunge atop Keizer Ghidorah and start mauling him as an homage to Gorosaurus and his tide-turning kangaroo kick.

I remember seeing Varan in the closing bit as a kid and was always very confused. I spent a lot of time with the movie paused just trying to figure out who he was and why he seemed to be floating. I also had been confused as who Baragon was since he only was in the one scene. At one point, I thought maybe Varan was Baragon, before just settling on it being some weird monster they never mentioned.
@Headless_Bill
@Headless_Bill Жыл бұрын
Yeah that always confused me too. Varan was never mentioned by name in the movie as far as I remember and despite being a "gliding" monster he always seemed to be eerily floating when on camera. Also a shame that they didn't use the Baragon suit for the Paris sceens; creates a bit more confusion when the dubbing mentions him but Gorosaurus is shown.

same they were only on screen for like a matter of seconds makes me wonder why they were even included at all. I'm sure Toho must have had costumes that were in better condition to use hell, i don't even think their suits even looked that bad i think they could have been given more screen time without it being to distracting. they literally have blink and you miss it cameos especially Varan

Interesting note is that in the Japanese trailer of this film Godzilla, Rodan, Manda, and Mothra are attacking Tokyo before Godzilla "commands" an air raid on Tokyo as King Ghidorah flies over with Anguirus still hanging on to one of his necks till he's dropped by Ghidorah into the city and a big explosion occurs afterwards.

I am so glad that your parents had you and encouraged your Godzilla addiction (I think they're called enablers) , for you have made my life SOOOOO much easier !! I greatly appreciate all the time , research and energy you put into these amazing productions , not to mention the video production alone !! Anyway THANK YOU SO MUCH !! - Because , being born in 1967 (Yes , I am old) and being a 70's kid , I grew up on Monster Movies , Comic Books and Rock n Roll !! However , I am far too lazy to have done all this work myself !! This way , I just get to enjoy and learn from all your hard work and sweat !! Plus there's some good humor thrown in as a little bonus !! So , one more time - GREAT JOB AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH !! Oh yeah , there was no internet then , so there's no way I could have dug up even ten percent of that information !! By the way , your obsessive and meticulous deep-dive-digging is mind blowing !! You could use those skills as say .... oh , maybe a detective , perhaps ?

Sometime in the early 70's, without actually telling my parents where I was going, I took off on a Saturday afternoon and caught a double bill of DAM and its opening act, Yog Monster from Space. The theater was only a mile or so away. The latter film bored the hell out of me and I've never seen it since. Destroy All Monsters on the big screen was amazing. At that age seeing multiple Toho monsters in one film blew my little mind.

I was 6 when I saw the trailer of the American version on television. It was the first time I saw Godzilla and in my opinion, he looked great walking in Tokyo. When I was 7, I saw Destroy All Monsters late one summer night. The independent station at the time had a cut of the film that was different. At the end, I recall seeing deep space and listening to Akira Ifukube’s legendary march theme as the credits rolled. I may be wrong with this description but I do remember listening to the music at the end. Other nights and some weekend mornings and afternoons, I would, if I was lucky, would watch Rodan, Mothra and Monster Zero and War Of The Gargantuas on that independent station. Other stations shown other films. My favorite scene in Destroy All Monsters was the scene where the Moonlight XY-3 crew use the cutting laser and Ifukube’s piece had an aggressive piece for piano, strings and percussion until the monster’s mind control device was severed. I remember bobbing my head up and down and side to side because I was really into the music and the scene. The 1968 Godzilla suit is one of my all time favorites.

This movie put me through hell, as a young kid I read about it from the library books on godzilla movies, blew my mind at the thought of all them ganging up on one, looking forward to the MV take on it ;)

I always had to catch this movie on tv (Usually on TNT). I almost always caught in glimpses and it would be years before I would see this movie in it’s entirety. But nonetheless one of my favorite Showa era movies.

Your channel was something I would have died for as a kid. just to have all the wealth of knowledge on Godzilla. at the time in the 90s, man I had to dig to get any news. the Official Godzilla Compendium book was my Bible.
