Diantha’s an underrated champion in my opinion. She had a great battle with Lance. And although she was done dirty against Leon, her Gardevoir definitely put in a lot of work

Considering her last battle in the Anime thus far was against Leon's Ace of Aces and Champion destroying Charizard, She did really well. And Lance's team wasn't half bad either. And she is a very underrated champ who's ace could take down several of my Pokemon that I have ever used.

I agree Kalos competitors were done wrong in the masters 8 tournament 🏟 but Gardevoir did well in her fight I love how she was able too use Gmax FireWild against Charizard which would been hilarious if Leon were defeated by their own attack.

It probably helps that Gardevoir is a psychic type Pokemon, and thus is likely able to read Diantha's mind to find out what she wants her to do that way. Thinking about it like that reminds me of Anabel, who was able to use her psychic powers to command her Pokemon when she battled Ash

They were mainly spamming shadow ball as they wanted to test Ash and Greninja, not properly fight them. If they were going all out, given Diantha’s Gardevoir’s moveset in the games, they would’ve been using moves such as moonblast and thunderbolt.

dianthus potential as a trainer honestly boggles my mind, the fact that she managed to keep her position as kalos champion despite how tight her schedule is and how busy her career as an actress keeps her and yet she’s managed to keep her title even with all the battle hardened mega evolution trainers running around is extremely impressive. Talk about wasted potential in my opinion. Such an awesome Pokémon for a champion with an epic battle against Greninja... But gets thrown to the wayside... But slightly redeems itself in the first one of the Master's Tournament against Lance. Only for the writers to say... "Screw Kalos. Let Leon decimate them all!". Diantha and Gardevoir should have had way more screen time and interactions with both Ash and Alain. She could have a mentor to both, easily. As Subzero kindly put it, "Such wasted potential."

I feel like the only reason why they chose not to have his Absol mega evolve is because they already showed it off when Astrid used it to battle Alain in his first appearance, and then later against Ash during the opening of Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction. Personally, I kind of wish they would have shown her off a little more, as she could easily have just made only one appearance and been done afterwards, only to have her make a few more minor appearances later on

Thanks for doing this one professor! I definitely feel like Diantha is a bit under appreciated and was happy to see her do well against Lance. I think she gets overlooked because of Ash's Greninja doing so well against her and almost beating gardevoir but that was more of a testament to Greninja's potential and what levels it can reach, more than Diantha being weak IMO. Also, would love to see you tackle Cynthia's Garchomp! That one would be amazing!

Diantha has always been underrated, but it's because some aspects of her team doesn't match up (Ex. Why does she have the 2 Kalos fossil Pokemon). Though her team having a best single stat & PokeDex color unique from the others is a sweet double gimmick, she's been done dirty more times than any other champion & probably any other character (Except maybe Ryuki). Even in my first Pokemon X playthrough years ago I two-shotted Mega Gardevoir... with a Furfrou... that was the same level.

The writers in Pokemon Journeys (like a lot of other returning characters and sub-plots) didn't do Diantha's Gardevoir justice. I mean this, AFAIK, is the strongest Gardevoir in the Pokemon world, but what made this Gardevoir memorable was the insane dodging ability it, well, used to have. I was expecting a lot more development of said dodging ability considering the time passed and the lessons learned from her battles in XY/Z. If you've played "God of War: Ragnarok," and remember how Heimdall's fighting style was introduced---yeah that's the psychic-awareness-level I think Diantha's Gardevoir should have been at by the time of the masters eight. Seeing such mind-bending (literally and figuratively) dodges would have made it a proper send-off----the only reason that didn't happen was either they ran out of budget for such cool Heimdall-like dodging animations (which would have been unprecedented in the mainline anime, I think), or the writers couldn't come up with a creative way for the Pkm. World Champ Leon to best such an ability and forced the loss for plot reasons instead. Sadly, this further reinforces one of the main reasons I REALLY didn't like Journeys (especially as a sendoff for the main series) summed up in 3 words----"Didn't do justice." (ofc there are a few plot-line exceptions to this problem, but they are few and far between).

Gonna be honest, I feel like with the universal upgrade every single Kalos character got from game to anime, Diantha got it the worst to me. While everyone got 10x better, she kind of stayed the same to me. I actually have to give props to Journeys for really showing off Diantha's prowess in battle. Well, at least against Lance.

If it wasn't for ghetsis' hydreigon I don't think gardevoir would've been as good in the anime. If you don't know what I mean then,I have high suspicions that ghetsis' hydreigon was the reason behind the fairy types existence

@@ksoundkaiju9256 that's not what I was trying to imply, I can't speak from experience but I have definately heard stories of people getting destroyed by ghetsis' hydreigon in black and white and they literally made the fairy type the generation afte so ......

@@rabbidthor You aren't wrong; even I haven't played Unova games but after watching several playthroughs on KZbin, I can easily see why people regard it as Cynthia's Garchomp 2.0. This means, if you are underlevelled, that thing will sweep your team. Some even regard it tougher than Cynthia's Garchomp. Just look at Ghetsis' Hydreigon's coverage: Fire Blast and Focus Blast to cover every Ice type. Surf against Emboar so that Tepig Choosers don't have an easy way. STAB Dragon Pulse from 125 Special Attack to hit your other Pokémon hard with neutral effect. Steel was the only type that resisted Dragon but his Hydreigon has Fire Blast and Focus Blast. That Dragon Pulse also covers the boxart legendary given to you before the penultimate fight vs N ( after which you have to fight Ghetsis ). If Dragon Types like Kingdra and Palkia enjoyed theoretically no weakness ( only dragon, but they are dragons too ), Garchomp was seemingly overpowered and Spiritomb and Sableye had no weakness, Hydreigon was the ultimate push into the compulsion of creating fairy types. It's a shame that a duo, regarded as powerful as Cynthia and Garchomp, or maybe even more, never made its debut in the Anime.

I think Diantha’s Mega Gardevoir was strong it’s just a shame you had to do a video of her after diantha’s loss to Leon that was done dirty to her as the full battle was not even Shown and Gardevoir should’ve heLd on longer against Charizard but the Win Lose Ranking is not bad I just hope we see Diantha battle again so she can get better Represented and I hope Ash will one day battle her again as they still have that Promise to battle again after he won a league since he won the Alola league.
