The History of Dumbledore's 4 ARMIES (+All 72 Members) - Harry Potter Explained

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing the formation, purpose, and timeline of each of Albus Dumbledore’s FOUR armies.
Now, I know what you may be thinking: “EACH of Dumbledore’s armies?! Didn’t he only have just the one?” While, of course, you are correct in identifying that only one of Dumbledore’s armies was literally named DUMBLEDORE’S ARMY, there were actually - at least - three other groups which formed around the leadership of Albus Dumbledore. While each of these groups were created to serve their own unique purpose, they all were underground, unsanctioned martial groups formed in support of Dumbledore during times of wizarding warfare.

People were attracted to Dumbledore's leadership because of his fair-mindedness and sense of honor. He was exceptionally competent as a teacher, and his wizarding skills were barely approachable by any other witch or wizard in known history. He was very kind, too.

Have wondered if, when imprisoned in Malfoy Manor, Luna ever came face to face with Voldemort. He tortured Ollivander; could she have seen it, and/or had any contact with him? Her drastically different demeanor at Shell Cottage (in the film) made me wonder. Would love a video on the topic, if it's not too far out there or hasn't already been done.

Do y'all think it was a mistake to go with the name ("Dumbledore's Army") as this unecessarily implicated Dumbledore? They could have easily gone with "Students for the Preservation of Hogwarts" or "Emergency Education Force," etc, all of which would have made Umbridge look bad right?

it's mentioned in the books that they did it because that was what the ministry and cornelius fidge feared , they were afraid that dumbledore has a secret army that he is preparing to fight nd overthrow the ministry of magic, so they named it after what the ministry feared the most to scare them and show them what they are capable of. but honestly any other name would've worked just fine

I could actually see the DA being a yearly occurrence after Voldemort fell, just to make sure that the people could defend themselves from another dark lord, although I can also see that as a reason not to use it, unless there is dire need of it... I mean, you wouldn't want the next dark lord to be trained by Harry in DA would you??? But still, I think the benefits outweigh the risks, although after he graduated from Hogwarts, I could definitely see him training Aurors in the same manner, and if he still did the DA I could see him doing fewer classes in a year, or having some Aurors show off their specialties of what they're best at... Some are good at undercover work, and although I think it'd be easy to tell it was tonks by the toppled umbrella stands left in her wake, she would be a fine person for showing people how she blends in, for instance, by using her powers to turn into Harry, or someone else present, and have them try to tell the difference between them, while others might be good at potions, for say polyjuice or Felix Felicis, or healing potions, while still other Aurors, could be good at curse and ward breaking, all skills one might need to at least have knowledge of, to better survive an incident requiring auror support...

technically dumbledores army was nothing to really do with dumbledore it was only named as such because thats what fudged feared was happening at hogwarts so ginny suggests it as the name of their dada group and was lead by harry not dumbledore, he only had 3 armys not 4 and two of those armys were the same army just with some new recurits to fill the ranks of those who had been lost the first time around so that brings it down to two the one for fantastic beats which has no name as of yet and the order of the pheonix

I think his sisters death made him realise it wasn't worth it, dumbledore wanted her to not have to hide anymore in fear of muggles or other wizards and her death destroyed his family

I wonder from the group he established to fight against Gellert, if at least Theseus will remain alive in the end. We know Newt is alive for sure, as he was shown in "The Marauders Map." I am going to say again- I think Jacob is not a Muggle/No-Mag but a Squib. Why else would he be able to use a wand, probably no one ever told him the truth. About "The Order Of The Phoenix", they were a group of talented witches and wizards, but they were also outnumbered, and many of them got killed for what and who they fought for, I am not sure they fought and died, for either Albus/Harry, some of them at least. But without them, the defeat of Voldemort wouldn't have happened. All of them were very brave, choosing to fight with honor, and to die with honor. The DA should be HA really (Harry's Army), as he was the real leader of them, but Albus indeed saved them, he wished he was the one to establish the organization, but he didn't. All of them were fantastic, but no match for professional DE. Yet they fought with everything they had. BTW, it didn't have to be Neville to kill Nagini, anyone could have killed Nagini. It was probably just for the movie, but Ron used Avada Kedavra on Nagini, which I am sure is not book accurate, but still shows you anyone could have killed anyone, a war is a war.

Love your videos, but I think perhaps instead of telling watchers to "buy" the Harry Potter books is no longer appropriate, we don't want to actively support a transphobe. Perhaps next time, if willing, get them out on loan at the library, or a second-hand store. JK doesn't deserve our money.
