Carter G Woodson wrote about OUR CURRENT SOCIETY from the 1930s. He was highly observant, intuitive, informed, gifted and relatable.

I am working right now and won't be able to watch the full video until later but I just wanted to commend Manicka for the brilliant concept behind this channel. She had me at "The Afrocentric Social Worker".

Preach Dr Carr! I wish you were at HU when Dr Alvin Thornton et als. Fought hard for y’all to be be here - when we were there - (Hint: who are we and places of knowing ) ......those of us who were and expected to demand, are still thirsty to hear Ancestors because that is all We are used to being or will listen to

Appreciate you and Dr. Carr so much! One caveat though: Wilberforce University was established pre civil war in 1856.

" we get an affinity to people and sometimes stop being critical/ anaylictically of their policies" its okay to challenge people that look like us and hold them accountable for moving the baton further in the race.

Don't forget Barack Obama came out of Harvard and what one could say that what he might know might fill a book but what he doesn't know could surely filll the library

Thank you! I’ve been asking the ancestors for Dr. Carr to teach on HBCU history and was about to make a request. Appreciate this. If anyone has information regarding Black opinions of General Howard, please let me know. Unsure if he remains unspoken of due to his slaughter of Native Americans. I can understand why he is not celebrated. However, I wonder about his reputation regarding the university; his intentions, his sincerity, (albeit hypocritical).

Thank you Manicka Thomas. Wish you divine blessings beyond your social work experience. May your social work trajectory add a unique combination of history and social work to your studies, students and audience. That will restore the Black Genius in our Black children and adults who have reserved themselves an open minded and spirit for learning.

Thank you Manicka for this VERY PRODUCTIVE conversation that provided ample amounts of historical info to help us know how to navigate presently and in the future!
