I used to buy Northland GOALIE sticks for under $5 in Grosse Pointe Michigan growing up. Just some wood dipped in clear fiberglass resin, they would last maybe 15-20 games if you taped them right. They had absolutely no BEND to them so handling the puck was challenging and they were 3 times heavier than the carbon fiber sticks they're spinning out of spider webs today. When the SherWood PMP sticks came out, we thought THAT was revolutionary at the time.

Greatest " Illegal stick measurement " came in 93 Stanley Cup Game 2 . Kings were up 2-1 late in the 3rd and already won Game 1. Habs didnt want to go to L.A. down 2 nothing . Montreal late great coach Jacques Demers asked to measure the Kings Marty McSorley's stick. A very gutsy call only being down 2-1 . McSorley was busted and then Demers pulled Patrick Roy for a 6 on 4 PP. Habs scored and won in OT. Eric Desjardins scored the Hat Trick and is the only Defenceman to score a Hat Trick in a Stanley Cup Final. That penalty was the turning point in the series. Montreal would go on to win the next 3 games and win 4 games to 1 with 3 games won in OT.

tabarnak, it's great that you remember that! now, hold on to that memory, cherish it.... because the habs aren't winning the cup again until 2054.

Remenber that case of McSorley caught with an illegal stick, contributing to the Canadiens game-tying goal. Canadiens won the Stanley Cup in 1993 following that call

I have two of O’Reilly’s actual LX Pro sticks and they are crazy fun to use and great at wrap arounds, and stealing the puck. The toe curve just cradles it enough to pocket it. You can also fling some hard angled passes using the toe curve on it. I’m about to order a couple more just in case.

Spezza's stick measurement penalty isn't even the most famous in NHL history. You actually MISSED the most famous stick measurement penalty in NHL history. That would be Marty McSorley's penalty against the Habs in the 1993 Finals.
