Behind every short Canadian is a tall Australian 😅 I've always loved the early years of Wolverine - during the mysterious years. Nothing was known and we loved him that way.

Loved this video. In my opinion Wolverine is one of the best comic book characters of all time. Some may think I’m absolutely crazy for saying that l, but I think he’s more complex than some may realize and bolstered by such great stories and a legendary representation in Hollywood by Hugh Jackman , Wolvie gets my vote for Marvel hall of fame if he ‘s not there already

Wolverine and Spider-man are my most favourite Marvel Characters especially during the 90s... I love playing Wolverine in Marvel fighting series video games (Berserker Barrage!), when I first played Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on PS2, I was scratching my head that why does it have two Wolverines in the character roster? Till I realise their claws colours were different, soon I found out about the bone claws variant (and Fatal Attraction comic). I remembered I first know Wolverine when I read the X-Men comic book in the 80s where the Sentinels attacking the X-Mansion, Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler and the rest were fighting them then Storm betrayed them (which I believe the White Queen is in her body), then I came to know about him in Pryde of the X-Men pilot episode, later came the Animated Series which became my favourite character (Ya know TMNT Raphael does reminds me of Wolverine, his rage and loyalty to his comrade)

I always liked the spiked claws from Jim Lee more than the razor blades but Wolverine is always drawn as having those damn razor blades so we take what we can get I guess. Awesome coverage as always , thanks for the video.

Hi Micheal, even though you're Asleep Great video about The History of Wolverine, keep them coming, Also your latest video was outstanding, Also Wolvie or should I say Logan or should I say Wolverine was my best and favorite comic book character growing up. I still have all my comics and figures. Thanks for the history lesson Micheal or should I say bub! Also Wolverine is not only my best and most favorite Avenger, not only is Wolverine my best and most favorite Superhero, not only is Wolverine my best and favorite Marvel Comics Superhero but also Wolverine is my best and most favorite X-Man of all time, Also Deadpool and wolverine doesn't need to be a cinematic masterpiece. Just seeing Hugh finally wear that costume while deadpool annoys the hell out of him is good enough for me, Also The Wolverine Action figure section from Toy Biz was incredible, The Wolverine Marvel Legends Action figure section from Toy Biz was Spectacular, & The Latest and Current Wol verine Action figure section from both Marvel Legnds & Hasbro was superb, Also For classic video game fans: Capcom will be releasing a compilation game of all of their Marvel themed arcade games. You can look forward to playing as Wolverine in six of their classic fighters. Also Wolverine was my favorite childhood X-men character & is still my best and most fave to this day. Healing factor, razor claws, attitude, berserker rage & Canadian!🇨🇦 Also The best we are going to get. Also Oh Hell Yeah!!👍👍 Also Awesome😎😉 Also Awesome job about the History of Marvel's Wolverine from comics, Also Nice. Also Behind every short Canadian(5'3"(adult),(later)5'7"(cah),195ibs(adult),(as of 2024 with Adamantinum Skeleton),300ibs(caw) is a tall Australian (6'2"(adult),(later 6'3")🙂 l've always loved but also liked the early years of Wolverine- during the mysterious years. Nothing was known and we still loved him that way. Also The Canadian group of mutants was called Alpha Flight which features a background of Wolverine before joining the X-Men. I discovered the comics in the early 1980's. Great history of my favorite Mutant, Also Wolverine is also a member of not only the X-Men, not only a member of the New Avengers, not only a member of the Avengers but also a leader & member of X-Force(Krakoa), Also Wolverine will also be a member of Rogue's Uncanny X-Men in Uncanny X-Men(current series)#1(2024) shipping in August but also part of the entrie From The Ashes storyline from Marvel, Also thanks for sharing Micheal keep up the good work stay safe out there in Canada have a goodnight and Nerdmaste bub.🙂🟢🦸💪👍🇺🇲😎😉🥳😁🤘🎆🎇💚❤️🏋️👊 3:54 am.

Cyclops may be my favorite X-Man, but I do have a soft spot for Wolverine. Tough as nails, er, claws, and takes no guff from anybody, friend or foe. On a voice acting note, for the longest time, I thought it was Neil Ross who voiced Wolverine in Pryde of the X-Men, Australian accent and all. Many people say it is. But now, I know better, many fans of Wolvie do. Patrick Pinney is a decent voice actor, but not our Wolverine. That title belongs to those who voiced him, especially being a fan of both Cal Dodd and Steve Blum. That being said, that was quite a retrospective on our favorite canucklehead. Nicely done. Stay frosty, bub. 😉

This vid is the best at what it does and what it does is very sweet! I had no idea about the FOOM contest. I always thought the character was just given cool powers then his story fleshed out. I also saw those earlier cartoons so I thought Wolverine was Australian. It had me thinking the animal was from there like the Platypus and Koala. I thought all the cool animals came from Australia when I was a kid. I think his appearance in the Spider-Man cartoon along with most of the X-Men was my first introduction to those characters. Spider-Man and Hulk in TV are my introduction to Marvel. I had those characters as toys. I don’t think I got to know the character in comics or toys till 90s. Now I’m a sucker for the toys. I think I have a small army of them.

It's interesting to go back and read those early issues of Uncanny X-men (and the letter pages) and see how slowly Wolverine's defining characteristics came together. His short fuse was intact, as you noted. (Of course, he underwent a lot of character development in those first few years, and became a much wiser and calculating character by the early 80s. Wolverine would come to act as a mentor for younger X-men like Kitty Pryde, Colossus, Rogue, Rachel Summers and Havok.) But it would take a long time before Wolverine's "healing factor" and adamantium bones would be explicitly acknowledged. For example, Wolverine notes in Uncanny X-men 114 that he "heals quick" and that "no creature alive can break his bones", but it would be a few issues longer before the full details were canonized. And if the letter pages from those early issues is any way representative of the fandom as a whole, people HATED Wolverine in his earliest appearances. They thought he was nothing more than a short-fused punk who created artificial drama. According to an editorial note on one of those letter pages, Wolverine almost died in the first Uncanny X-men mission in place of Thunderbird. But Claremont was due to assume the reins of the book, and he had plans to rescue Wolverine from the scrappy heap...

Not surprising. It was a more upbeat and fun-loving time compared to today, so I can see how Wolverine would have been seen as a buzzkill. He's perfect for today's society though. 😉
@daviddalrymple2284

@@MichaelMercy Very much so. He was the breath of fresh air that a lot of comic book fans didn't even realize they needed. And I think that Claremont quickly found ways to make Wolverine more sympathetic: his unrequited crush on Jean Grey, his sharing beer with Nightcrawler, and the fact that he is shown to struggle with his animalistic nature.
@MichaelMercy
@MichaelMercy Ай бұрын
I'm reading Marvel Comic Presents Weapon X right now and it really sheds light on his animalistic nature. I knew he was tortured, but what they did to him was downright demonic.
@SamGuthrie1977
@SamGuthrie1977 Ай бұрын
@@daviddalrymple2284 Yeah, Claremont gave Logan depth by creating the backstory about his time in Japan, and his desire to be a noble Samurai. Like you said, this was an internal juxtaposition with his feral side. Later on, I think it was interesting how Claremont used Sabertooth to symbolically represent what Logan would have been, if he'd simply given in to animalistic side and embraced his feral nature.
