+Stephen Inness He got so much wrong with this one that all he would do is fuck up telling the history of Linux. He tried saying CP/M became DOS. Which it did not. He also said Windows 9x runs on top of DOS. Again, it does not. He messed up a lot of things besides these two too.
@anonymusptbo87048 жыл бұрын
TheSportCompact DOS Copied CP/M which was originally going to be settled until the CP/M creator was "persuaded" otherwise. And yes, windows 1, 2, 3, 95, 98, and ME run over DOS. If you were to remove DOS from those operating systems, they would not run. Don't say shit that's not true. It fucks with people
@TheSportCompact8 жыл бұрын
Anonymus ptbo Let me start out by saying, it is clear you weren't even alive when CP/M was around. The same is true for Windows 9x as well. I was. If you were you wouldn't be talking out of your ass right now. Go learn about CP/M and Gary Kildall for starters. Because you do not know what you are talking about. Kildall never settled anything. Windows 9x, as in 95, 98, and ME did/does not run over DOS. Windows 1 to 3.11 did/does. Nothing past those versions does. With Windows 9x, DOS is nothing more than a bootloader for 9x and shuts down. When Windows 9x is up and running, it is used in a VM as a legacy 16bit device driver layer and to run DOS programs. See you are too stupid today, and weren't alive back then, to know that DOS is 16bit, Windows 9x 32bit, and you cannot run a 32bits on top of 16bit. blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/20071224-00/?p=24063 I suggest you take your own advice and don't say shit that isn't true. Not only do you look like a fucktard, you look like an asshole when proven wrong by the person you were one to. Now, apologize, go to your corner, and shut the fuck up.
@TheSportCompact8 жыл бұрын
Anonymus ptbo Oh, and also, cloning something, does not make the clone the original product, considering they don't share the same code. So, saying that, yes DOS is loosely a CP/M clone. But, it is not CP/M. By your logic, ReactOS is Windows

"Don't release it for free" You call that great? It's not revolutionary in anyway. I would love to hear the reason to keep things closed in regards to the big moola besides personal gain and a tremendous Middle Finger (NON-CALI STYLE). I find the direction of (not just free) open-sourced software to always cover my needs. In a business you could picture it - This PC needs to talk to this PC (let's make our money) - PC 1 speak, Hi PC 1 you see? I guess I could understand if you don't get it but convey your response to make me see what's wrong with my question besides a 1-word ignorant response or something really similar or in the same lane (call it a new game).

Well I agree w/ the game aspect, I don't play anything free of charge unfortunately. I suppose It would then all boil down to how much knowledge you have. The whole "Don't release it for free" isn't really covered just yet. What you told me is a good reason for commercial licencing which is related to a confined controlled environment where people can decide what can be used and what shouldn't be seen. What wasn't explained is the reason for the whole entire attitude of POLICING it "shouldn't be free". But, linux being messy? Are you reading those top10 Linux distro pages :P I believe *the real Don's use Arch Linux*. Ubuntu is out of the question is terms of reliability whether it's from crappy updating systems to what's compatible. So if you want to be hassle free you gotta learn how to use the Arch way. Oh yeah, you can't do shit on a Mac, so.
@JJMza8 жыл бұрын
I've heard some horror shock stories w/ Ubuntu within the last year. Linux Mint is even presented in that regards of "This works, look at how simple our website looks" I have also tried Linux Mint and found it to be a very neat & simple linux distro where everything that you expect from a Window's machine will already be laid out for you in Mint. Ubuntu has some hiccups like getting codecs to work, isn't that right?

The android version that was in development before the iPhone was more Palm/Blackberry type of interface with a keyboard. Look up early renderings for the OG Android, what you know and love today was heavily influenced by the iPhone. The history shows what Android looked like pre iPhone and post iPhone. Point of clarification. CP/M did NOT become DOS. Completely separate products, that while achieving the same end goal were not related. In fact they were competitors. CP/M was the dominant (and vastly superior) OS and until IBM started shipping their PCs with DOS was the preferred OS. It's always interesting how mistaken young ones are about computing history, especially those that weren't around to actually experience it first hand.

I'm using a WP10 phone now, and by all means, it's a very decent and usable mobile OS. It just feels a bit hastily thrown together with no real sense of purpose however, and that's why I still have very fond memories of when I used WP7 (which I did for about five years), because that was an OS that was truly visionary. Arguably MS went too far with it and that restricted its market appeal, but for true ease-of-use and consumer-friendly design, nothing tops WP7.

Then you didn't know how to set it up properly. XP is the first consumer-level OS based on the rock-stable Windows NT. App-level code cannot bring down the OS. Only system-level code, such as bad drivers, can do that. Once you clean up all your drivers, and assuming your hardware works properly, the BSODs go away permanently. I've had an XP machine for over 15 years, often running for months without a shutdown for weather, going on vacation, or whatever. This OS does not crash.
