Was Spain trying to push Russia out of Alaska?
@rubencuadros71746 жыл бұрын
Captain Salvador Hidalgo, coast along the coast of Alaska, baptizes a place like Valdés, and disembarks at the anchorage of Puerto Cordova, friends with the natives and on June 3, 1790 takes possession of Alaska in the name of the King of Spain. The next day the Russians arrive, and not only Hidalgo chases them away, but searches for their base of operations, in the Kenai Peninsula, and before their sight hoists the Spanish flag again, ratifying their sovereign rights over Alaska.
@rubencuadros71746 жыл бұрын
Russia intended to displace Spain from California and the entire coast, as commissioner Rezanov proposed to the Czar: "the whole country can become an integral part of the Russian empire." Spain stopped Russia, that had occupied the uberrima California would not have left, or sold as did the icy Alaska. And for that reason, the United States should thank Spain for having sovereignty over California today.

In fact in most casesin the world, It is objectively true that in terms of infrastructure and "quality" of life those that were colonised, have a better experience than those that weren't and in the cases where they weren't, the majority of the people wer still abused and murdered in the same way as they were with colonial rule, by their own elites. Effectively, modern colonial empires, and particularly the French and British, treated the indigenous with a great deal more decency than the rulers within their own people were doing,. *criticism against modern empires is completely overrated and in most cases fabricated

@juanmoreno2674 жыл бұрын
@Frx bx01 ok the white population the us biggest population is the white population its bigget than african americans and hispanics which gives a clear idea of wat britain did and the us did most of the native americans they didnt even die because they got killed by the spanish they died because of disease i mean i understand how you feel but unless you are native american you shoudlnt be mad because im part native american actually almost every single hispanic has native american in them and some of them have full native american in them except they lost their culture and adopted the spanish language so basically most hispanics are surviving descendants from the native americans except they just dont speak the native dialects they just speak spanish thats why most us citizens think all hispanics are dark but they arent its because mexicans are usually 100% native american most of them not all of them they just speak spanish but still have their traditions and since most hispanic immigrants in the us are mexican people just straight up think hispanics are dark but they are not it depends from what country you are like if you are in cuba its normal to see somebody white speak spanish because after the war of 1898 most spaniards living in cuba at the time didnt want to be spaniards any more so then they stayed in cuba it depends which latin american country you are from it would usually determine the skin color

Fabian080690 Did not invest? Spain built close to 30 universities in America, made hundreds of cathedrals, palaces and buildings throughout the American continent, founded hundreds of cities and towns, made roads, fortresses, ports, among other things. Your comment is meaningless and shows a great lack of knowledge of the history of Spanish imoerio ... You only have to go through the capitals and large cities of Latin America and see the colonial legacy that left Spain. Britain did not make universities. You confuse that perhaps you mean that Spain did not industrialize, but the Spanish empire was older than the others, when most of the European powers colonized the world in the nineteenth century (some had already begun before, but Spain was more Ancient), Spain was a decaying empire. And the British Empire was a great empire, but only lasted as world power 100 years, Spain lasted 300 years as a superpower. Where are you from? The British empire, the greatest empire in history, of course, compared to eighteenth-century Spanish, because if we compare it with the Spain of the Austrians (when it dominated half-europe and the Portuguese dominions in ultrmar), the thing changes. Besides Where do you leave Mongol? Spain dominated the ocean for 3 centuries, the Pacific Ocean was called Spanish Lake. The Empire when the Sun never sets

There are many mistakes with regard to native tribes in North America prior to and just after European contact. The Sioux, Cheyenne and Arapaho were not in their familiar western locations as early as 1400 (as the map shows). They were woodlands tribes who moved toward the Great Lakes around that time. They didn't move further west until well after Europeans came, as they were pushed in the 17th and 18th centuries by the pressure of other tribes getting firearms from (mainly) the French. They acquired the horse in the late 17th or early 18th centuries and only then took up the plains culture, conquering people who were already there. Similarly, the Comanche didn't break off from the Shoshone and establish themselves in the west Texas area until much later.

Don't be jelous and read more about history instead watching the Hollywood or British films... At the time that Spain was an empire, England was only a peasant kingdom. I think that for 1867, in Canada, you should have changed the colour for the four united colonies. This would have worked to show their interior barriers, like provinces of Quebec and Ontario, being different from Manitoba and while it is being formed into the union.
@frippsfruition7 жыл бұрын
not only that, but according to the chart on the right canada wasn't even a country until around 1930. If you watch closely they still have the Br. next to canada even after 1967 once we were an independent country... sure part of the commonwealth but not a territory of britain anymore.....
@lostwizard6 жыл бұрын
Actually, *technically*, Canada didn't gain complete independence from Britain until 1982 with the Constitution Act which brought its constitution completely under its own control, though de facto independence existed prior to then. Dominion status beginning in 1867 did give Canada its own government but it was still part of the British empire. It wasn't until the official formation of the Commonwealth in 1931 that Canada gained complete autonomy for both domestic and foreign policy. Thus, technically, the video is right.

there is actually a fase between hunter gatherers and civilizations, wich is sort of a transition from one to an other. an example of this is that lets say f.e. So TRUE! New Spain wasn't really a refined state and most cities and states were ran more Feudally(hacienda) like Jalisco, Puebla, Morelos they had their own thing going and even the Natives leaders still held power of towns seperate from the Concept of New Spain, so they didn't really have states/confederations like the US and Canada did... the only distinct territories were CALIFORNIA,TEXAS and NEW MEXICO territories , those were very much administered like states because of the CATHOLIC CHURCH(francsicans) with their Mission systems. So yes ALTA California needed to be seperate as well as Yucatan-Maya territories. Some historians say that Mexico was a Centralist state meaning that all powerand growth was for D.F and that was lead to the Mexican separation of Spain[ think of it as what NYC is to New York State]. SO I COULD see why he would make Mexico all unified because of its supposed CENTARLIST GOVT TYPE. point is even if this guy tried to lay down the States... Mexico's history is so extensive. Mexicos history is way more bloodier and far more complex than US history. You can learn most US history in 3 weeks-3month [Colonial,Indepence,Federalist,Antibellum,Civil War,Industrial-progressive, imperalist, 20s,depression, WW2,Boomer,Cold War, Vietnam, civil rights,Modern: Gulf Wars and Obama and Trump] but Mexican History is Eternity... [Pre Colonial: Ancient,Olmec,Maya,Aztec #1,Colonial: First Contact, Viceroy of New Spain, Chichimeca Wars #2Colonial 2: Caste system,Alta California,Haciendas,Formation Northern territories #3.Independence: etc. etc. etc. #4.Mexico: Augustin,Santa-Ana Liberals vs Federalist, Mexican-American war, #5. I just listed 11 extensive and very deep Books into Mexican history US history can be 1 book with only like 18 Chapterse and it mainly focuses on Slavery,Founding fathers(revolution) and talks about Democracy from Greece. I think the key difference between the 13 colonies and the French and Spanish colonies is that most people who came to the 13 colonies came with the intention of staying. Many French men went to Canada with the intention of making some money as lumberjacks or fur trappers and then returning to France. The French and Spanish had trouble convincing their women to settle in the new world. By contrast, English women arrived in Jamestown just a few years after its founding and families came over on the Mayflower.

Why did Spain not take last of Maya til the late 1600s?
@killercroc3387 жыл бұрын
They were strong, thats why they resisted. Spain had a lot of territories but definetely they dont control all of them as they thought. But after almost hundred of years of course they did, but not specially in the north area.

I read somewhere that the Spanish conquistadors weren't interested in taking that land because of the lack of precious metals.

they lived into the jungle also they weren't so much of a threat to the spanish conquistadors by the time, when spaniards arrived mayans were living in small villages and unorganized, some mayans submited to the conquistadors before they even defeated the aztecs.

They lived deep in the jungle. A jungle that has no rivers. All water has to be collected through holes on the earth. You need to know were those holes are. And they can be poisoned. The easternmost state of Mexico was created as a territory because there was no effective federal control until 1908ish.

Spain was not interested in the Mayan territories. Also, the Mayans disappeared off the face of the Earth. There are no Mayans on Earth anymore, but they didn't die. They vanished off the face of the Earth. They had contact with extra terrestrial civilizations, and worshiped aliens as gods. The aliens came and got them, and brought them to other worlds. The Mayans didn't die out, or anything, but there are no Mayans on Earth anymore.

fun history fact: st pierre and miquelon was french because in 1520, lots of french fishermen came here to fish and was made as a french territory in 1536, until 1713 when it was transferred to britian as a result to the treaty of utrecht until 1763 when france got back the islands. until 1783 when the islands were taken by britian because france sided with the united states, then the british burned down all of the homes on the island causing the french settlers to flee back to france, until 1796 when france got back st pierre and miquelon from britian

Were the French settlers there affiliated with the Acadians, or were they a completely separate group?

Most Latin American countries of today are still colonial states ran by descendants of the Spaniards. Just look at the racial hierarchy of most of them. Spanish colonial system is still very much alive.

Are you a latino??? If you are you have spanish blodd in you, i guess you are american obviusly
@elemanuel6079 Жыл бұрын
@@francoisdaureville323 yes I am. I'm mestizo so I'm aware of Spanish ancestry in my family tree. The people running most governments in Latin America are almost always full blooded Spanish descendants (criollos). That's what I'm talking about.

@@elemanuel6079 atleast you arent as ignorant as other americans thinking latino is a race or a skin color,, and what about countries like Uruguay Argentina and Chile where criollos are the majority.??
@elemanuel6079 Жыл бұрын
@@francoisdaureville323 the Southern Cone countries are a exceptional case for the most part because of their populations consisting largely of criollos and castizos do to heavy European immigration. Chile does have a lot of mestizos and indios and so does Argentina but they don't make up the wealthier class or those in positions of government for the most part.
