OH MY GOD. Paper Mario for the N64 is my FAVORITE Mario game of ALL time! :)

Super Paper Mario. My favorite game of all time. Ahhh the nostalgia.
@Chase_is_a_race5 жыл бұрын
I remember buying Paper Mario on N64 when I couldn’t find any Dreamcast games at the store. Paper Mario was brand new, I didn’t read much about it, I picked it up on a whim. I had a blast, and don’t regret buying Paper Mario. My cousin and I played SMRPG years prior, and I rented Paper Mario TTYD years later...I like both, but prefer the original.

I absolutely love TTYD. One of the first RPGs I ever played and still my favorite. I remember having such a problem beating the Shadow Queen. Love the dark turn the game takes there, too.

Until they make a Paper Mario game that is as good or even surpasses TTYD, TTYD is my favorite with the first being an instant classic.

Sorry for nitpicking, but the music in Super Mario RPG was not composed Nobuo Uematsu. All of the original music was composed by Yoko Shimomura, best known for Street Fighter II, Kingdom Hearts, and the Mario & Luigi RPGs. Nobuo Uematsu and Koji Kondo received secondary credit for the soundtrack due to the game having several arrangements of songs from Final Fantasy and the main seiries Mario games.

I don't have enough patience to sit through Mario RPG for SNES. Chrono Trigger and Digimon World 3 are much better RPGs. I absolutely worship Paper Mario (N64) though, it's one of the most wonderful games I've ever touched. It's fun, addictive, simple and full of interesting pieces of dialogue. The soundtrack is simply heavenly and even though the graphics are old, they're still full of charm and magic to this day. I loved talking to every single NPC and figuring out their little lives and how the main adventure impacted them before and after. Also, the battle system was very pleasant: it didn't pack tons of damage digits, but it was very engaging to level up, use action commands and hunt useful items. Everything was so complete and unpretentious. Unfortunately, I never played The Thousand-Year Door, but from what I know it's even better and expanded, kinda like Banjo-Kazooie got bigger and better as Banjo-Tooie. One of my biggest gaming hopes is to see Nintendo come back to Paper Mario's origins and make a similar game on the Wii U. NOT like Super Paper Mario, a true Paper Mario full RPG with the same mechanics and less gimmicks. A Paper Mario remake and a Banjo remake are two of the things I would love the most to see in the future.

1: Paper Mario TTYD. Amazing story, creative chapters, memorable characters, amazing battle system, dark themes, humorous dialogue, good music, and charming graphics. This game is a masterpiece! 2: PM64. Charming graphics, decent story, humorous dialogue, good music, and fun gameplay. Really good game. 3: SPM. Good music, memorable characters, humorous dialogue, dark themes, and amazing story. It's good. Mixing platforming with force RPG elements didn't fit, the 3D gimmick gets annoying after awhile, it looks bland in 3D, and the game visuals were bleh. Still feels like Paper Mario though. 4: Sticker Star. Creative paper visuals..... That's it. Generic worlds, bland story, uncreative characters, unpolished battle mechanic, unbalance bosses, pointless battles, unoriginal and unmemorable music, and overall felt like a chore to complete. Were they even trying?

Thousand Year Door sometimes has larger rooms, but the N64 classic had more areas to explore. I personally like the N64 version better because there's no redundant backtracking (like in Thousand Year Door). I'd play Chapter 4 of the N64 version any day, than deal with extreme pacing back and forth aimlessly ala Thousand Year Door chapter 4.

Lovely Retrospective. My favourite Paper Mario is the 64 version. I love it because of the colourful locations and the music. While TTYD did have a better battle system and graphics and locations (for me) were rather dull and the music wasn't as nice. It's a real shame they changed the battle system with the other two games.
