Fun fact: When Buster Douglas defeated Mike Tyson, the underdog Douglas was featured on the cover of a magazine called “Boxing 90” beating the NES game; Tyson’s Punch Out. He was holding the NES controller with boxing gloves with the caption “He wasn’t playing games.”

Actually, Tyson's legal troubles didn't really start, at least not the really serious offenses, until 1993, and it has been said that it had nothing to do with his removal from the revised edition. The license had simply expired, and the decision not to renew it all came down to two factors - Tyson's price had skyrocketed since the original agreement, and plus he lost to James "Buster" Douglas in early 1990, so he was no longer the undefeated champ. That's why the license with Tyson was not renewed.

I don't think that is true either. What I heard was Nintendo got Tyson for only $50,000 initially because it was just before he won the title and became a megastar. By the time it came to renew his license, the price had gone WAY up and wasn't worth it to Nintendo.

GAAAH leeeee i hope we get a new punch out on switch... or a wii remaster without having to use a sideways wiimote...How many people didnt know about Arcade Super punch out till internet and emulators?!?! So Alfanos moved out Punch out in like 89 and i hadn't seen it anywhere even the arcade in CT (Milford rec) didnt have it anymore....FIRST time i go to Florida right, we go to Disney for the day and when we parked the rental car in the garage, near the vending machine i hear it...the Familiar music playing but could it be?!?!?!? DAAAAAAD they got punch out... needless to say my mother was like look at you 2 asshole were in florida and this kids about to go to Universal tomorrow and youre in a hotel garage playing video games... they also had Yi-Ar kung fu and i fell in love with that music and game too!! @PigeonHoledByYT4 жыл бұрын
@The Lavian You make a good point, but perhaps it would have been better to say something like 'He said a joystick would work better, then went on to become arguably the most prolific designer in history.' There's no need to spend more than a sentence or two on him, but one can still do that while acknowledging his overall importance. The video was great. Looking back at my comment, my intention was to simply make a lighthearted comment on the reduction of such an iconic career. Clearly I failed in that intention and it came off much more harsh than it should have. My bad...........yo.

10:17 "Little Mac would lay dormant for 25 years" It was only 15 years between Super Punchout (1994) and Punchout Wii (2009). Even if you are saying that the protagonist in Super Punchout isn't Little Mac, Mike Tyson's Punch out came out in 1987 so it still wouldn't quite be 25 years. Counting this and blaming the lack of Tyson's license renewal on his legal issues, you've been pretty loose with the facts in this video.

Well I guess I misplaced my calculator when I was making this video. Thanks for pointing it out. By the way what is your source for the Tyson license renewal? Because I didn't read that anywhere.
