I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but I liked the well defined impact crater “lakes” on the map of Reach, reflecting the relatively young age of the system (and the nearby asteroid cloud). If the planet was older erosion would have worn the craters down, making the lakes more irregular in shape. There are many such lakes here on Earth, but we’ve only now begun to notice them because most crater lakes are no longer round. And now I’d like to take a moment and thank my high school geology teacher for putting that bug in my brain.

That is canon, but it doesn't really say whether Humanity wins or anything by that time, just that the planet is recolonized. Could be recolonized by Humans under Created authority (unless you meant whether they win against the Banished).
