Found this game on a whim when I was a kid. I was looking at the pc games in an aisle at Target. Looked at the box and it looked so cool. Little did I know 15 years later I would still play it. One of my favorite games of all time. Been playing the early stuff and am loving it. Cant wait to play my beloved Advent!

One of the best things i remember from playing Sins back in the day was the "Heaven" skybox that some maps have (the one that looked like our sky here with white clouds and a yellow sun far away). It was so mesmerizing to look at, I dont know why i dont see that Skybox everytime i play now..

Loved the first game to bits especially the star trek armada 3 mod. I also love the fact that the a lot of the Modders have been hired to work on the game and make it way more accessible to the community. I love the feature of being able to track and shoot down missiles. I would also love to see capital ship movement introduced in combat, as seen in the star trek armada 3 and other mods. Instead of ships sitting in one spot shooting, they fly around the gravity well automatically trying to shoot each other.

Never got super into the the lore but i remember playins sins of a solar empire and setting custom maps with 4-6 stars and dozens of planets and adding bots to conquer. Was so so much fun.

Gosh I loved Sins of a Solar Empire. Bought the Physical copy back when it came out in stores. Just looked so amazing to me back then. Three distinctive factions that fought in different ways, the mix of empire building and getting your eco going but also heading into massive fights. Ships having different abilities and roles... Rebellion doubled down on all of that and of course the lil dlcs added as well which just enhanced gameplay. The modding community is amazing... you got Halo mods, Star Wars, Star Trek, entire overhauls... it has been a treat. Truly, the only two things that would have made the game an even better experience than it had been would have been a campaign mode for each faction, to learn some more about them and their motivations and how they deal with things. As well as less lag. Mid to late game always started lagging but then again. That seems to be a theme with most empire building strategy games. Just too much going on at once.

Yes, Vesari are escaping the existential threat, the 4th faction. Faction already mentioned in the Rebellion intro that they are close, since Vesari are begin more desperate, and it was stated that scouts come in contact with them. But as we see, in Sins II there is no word about them and except few mechanics there is nothing new, its looks more to me like an remastered/enhanced edition, than a full fledged sequel. Also, Advent become Advent after millenia of exile on a harsh desert world. Its no wonder that they are twisted and thirst for vengeance.

I have played since I got my very first pc in 2008, sins 1 was my introduction to pc gaming and it was a hell of a first impression, it solidified for decades the type of games I was interested in and drove my lifelong interest in sci fi and astronomy. I still play lots, have all the DLC's, have probably bought sins for more more of my friends on steam than any other game and have been enjoying the hell out of the second one in early access as well. I can't believe such an incredible, genre defining game has been made in my home province and that a sequel came after 15 years, as well that we have continued to have support for the first game for this long, thank you for keeping ironclad games and sins alive, I think I speak for all of us when I say it means a lot. Incredibly under rated and talented people behind this project for sure.

My only complaint with Sins of a Solar Empire is that the backstory barely affects the game itself. Rebellion fixed that some, but still the story is barely existent and can be told entirely in a couple pages. I hope the new one fleshes things out more.

Honestly i always felt that Sins was the rightful successor to Lucas Arts best ever Star Wars RTS 'Star Wars Rebellion' Still looking forward to SoSE II, it's the Biggest RTS release since SCII-LotV and since Blizz has spent the last few years forgetting they're a fricken RTS company one of the few to look foward too in my book. I do hope Sins II doesn't have siege ships that so easily turn starbases and other planetary defenses trivial. It always bothers me when ships have drastically disproportionate damage and especially range against stationary defenses. Stationary defenses already pay a heavy price by, well, being stationary (sans the Orkulus anyway) as well as the starbases costing an enormous amount of resources. When a small fleet of siege and anti-strikecraft can lay waste to a system with massive stationary defenses with no problem that is always disappointing.

You don't need a fast APM to play, it's nothing like a traditional RTS when it comes to attention. Also, unless you're playing multiplayer you can (and probably should) make liberal use of the pause button. I'm not bad at Sins now but in SP I pause it all the time to think about my next moves
