Bob Hofmann attributed all the records the lifters accomplished to his Isometric rack when in fact they were using D Bol! He sold a lot of those racks and an older lifter said I’m killing myself on this rack and it’s not helping!One of the lifters told Louis Rieke the older lifter about Ziegler and he started breaking records!Great interview once again by you and Jerry both of you have so much knowledge the dynamic duo!

Great presentation Carlos - when you & Jerry get together it's the best! On methyltestosterone - it thought it was the oral form of testosterone and not an anabolic steroid per se? It was developed in 1935 along with first synthetic testosterone. It's hepatotoxicity is very high which is the reason why I believe oral forms of testosterone can not be used in a medical setting.

I commented on this channel years ago that guys in Reeves times were not natural. Reeves was not natural. The comment was criticized, dismissed, and attacked. Larry Scott himself admitted this, he got it from Grimmick and gave it to Reeves.

I remember taking methyltest in the 80s. Can’t say I was impressed. Also remember back in the 80s doctors and the media would always say steroids don’t enhance athletic ability. In the PDR back then it also had the same statement
@GrahamCStrouse
@GrahamCStrouse 3 ай бұрын
And they were wrong. Soviet-era steroids were extremely potent. Vintage gear was boosted anaerobic capabilities tremendously. It was also a lot more dangerous than modern designer drugs and much harder to hide from testers once the Olympics started getting semi-serious about testing after the Ben Johnson scandal in the ‘88 Olympics. Fun fact: Female athletes who take steroids and basic testosterone gain a much bigger advantage over their competitors than male athletes. The male body has a feedback system that (somewhat) limits the benefits of artificial male hormones. Women don’t. Nearly every women’s track & field record in the sprints, jumps & throws was set prior to the 1989, the year when the IOC finally started making an effort to catch steroid users. The only exceptions are the 100m & 400m hurdles, the triple jump, pole vault & high jump. Out of those 5 events, one (the 400 hurdles) wasn’t regularly competed by women prior to the 1984 Olympics & the pole vault and triple jump weren’t added to elite women’s competition until the ‘90s. The 100m hurdles record held for quite some time but has been lowered a few times in the 21st century. The women’s high jump record was just broken a few weeks ago by a Ukrainian high jumper who beat Stefka Kostandinova’s 1987 WR on 2.09 m a single centimeter. Gear does its job.

@thejuiceisloose3785
@thejuiceisloose3785 2 жыл бұрын
@@mdguitar00 the ideology, I listened to one of his seminars and it just clicked. He said building muscle is a defense mechanism of the body, and in order for it to build muscle it has to think it’s to weak and by constantly increasing the load on the body in defense of itself it will build muscle. That’s not exact but it’s basically what he said in a nutshell. The old school was so far ahead of its time and many of the things they used have been forgotten. So this is definitely a valuable channel.

Norethandrolone was perfected in 1953 and sold as Nilevar in 1956. Beat Dianabol by a couple of years. Bill Pearl gained huge amounts of size and strength within weeks of starting Nilevar as he openly mentions in his first book. Jerry doesn't seem to know this and thinks it was CIBA working with Ziegler that resulted in the first steroid used by bodybuilders.
@albardo08
@albardo08 2 жыл бұрын
I am aware of Nilevar and Bill Pearl's use of it. It was provided to him by a veterinarian and hadn't been used by humans. But the context of the interview was Zeigler's introduction of Dianabol to York Lifters, and Dianabol was indeed the first widely used oral steroid by athletes and bodybuilders. Pearl always denied that Nilevar did much for him since he used minimal doses and Nilevar isn't that potent to begin with. But photos of him taken in 1959 and then in 1961 show a vastly different physique. I did mention in the video that the first oral anabolic steroid was methyltestosterone, developed in 1934.

It would take only one depressed bodybuilder to discover the muscle building properties of testosteron.. So not through scientific papers but through experience. I think that would make it plausible that bodybuilders from the fourties and possibly the mid to late thirties already used.

Well, I agree that Steve Reeves didn't use drugs. However, your argument that every naturally strong man would be to proud to use a drug that is created to help weaker men, doesn't hold water. It is known that some young male pornstars take ridiculous amounts of Viagra although they don't have any of the issues associted with usage of Viagra. People do the craziest things and take all kind of stuff just to get to the top.
