Derek is a KZbinr, founder of Gorilla Mind and a fitness expert.
The Liver King has seen one of the fastest rises to internet fame ever. Documenting his ancestral lifestyle generated millions of followers and hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for his businesses, but it turns out that the physique he displayed in his content was built on massive amounts of performance enhancing drugs, despite him denying it on many occasions.
Expect to learn what Derek thinks of the Liver King's apology video, just how extreme the number of drugs he was talking were, whether there is more information still to come out, the risks for anyone of taking TRT, Derek's thoughts on NoFap, how to develop confidence when approaching someone you like and much more...

Hey man, love your content but a friend recently pointed out that you sell finasteride? I have great hair, so dont really care but he said it's not a widely studied drug, little research on it and that while you do own several businesses, you're not actually a pharmacologist -> this kinda makes you come off as a bit a charlatan...i challenged said friend by saying, you take it yourself...but was hoping you could shed some light on it a bit more deeply. I really respect you, hoping you can comment. Thanks man, bless up.

I love the conversation, obviously Chris is really smart and Derek is just such a down to earth dude. I REALLY love so many podcasts the last couple of years of really just, reasonable people that are super well informed and clearly are here to find out the truth and share it with everybody. Often times these are people without the 'official papers', no master's degree or PhD, but often 5 times more informed than your average general practitioner.

Really interesting from Chris from about 35:00. A manifestation of this I’ve seen is someone trying to laugh along with their own bullying (has to be a certain kind of bullying, not too physical and not genuine affectionate “ball breaking” between guys). They try to re-orient it as being genuine banter or a group joke that everyone, including them as the target, are all in on. It can be genuinely heartbreaking to see. I am the last person on Earth who would ever consider myself any kind of “mentor” but I sort of took a younger lad under my wing when I saw this scenario playing out and I think, no I know I helped him sort it out.

@benhall2235 Жыл бұрын
@@strangeclouds7 not sure I’d agree with that either. I think he honestly thinks that some of his products “may” help in the same way that placebo help. He was selling turkesterone which lost him credibility in my eyes. He did say that he was selling it based off of convincing anecdotal evidence at least which is better than no evidence but scientifically there’s no reason to suppose that ecdysteroids would have any anabolic properties in humans. I wouldn’t bother with preworkouts and supplements full of caffiene myself but I do trust his knowledge of actual steroids. I wouldn’t use him as my only source of info on anything though.

His apology would have been okay if he just admitted that he pretended to be natural because it made him more money. Nobody wants to follow some guy who's jacked up on steroids everyone wants to follow the natural guy who is the biggest and that's the only reason he lied. Without the lie of being natural he would have just been another guy on the internet doing steroids. The idea that he was doing it to help men is just stupid. Also saying I fucked up or I made a mistake is such a bad way of owning up. Fucking up is doing something once by accident on I'm impulse. Consciously perpetuating a lie over and over is not the same as fucking up

It’s literally in the water now. Bisphenols (BPA, plastic) a known hormone disruptor being the most likely culprit, apparently.
