Super Pac-Man was one of my favorites as soon as it was released. I played it a lot at a local luncheonette and later on a Commodore 64. Once I started collecting arcade games, I got a Super Pac-Man that had been converted to Jr. Pac-Man but included most of the Super parts. After I opened my arcade, I bought another Super Pac-Man that hadn’t been converted but was in rough condition. I cleaned it up, swapped my control panel onto it (better condition) and repainted most of the damaged artwork. It operates in my arcade daily. I’m still hoping to reconvert my original Super back to Junior and I have an empty, black painted Super cabinet that I hope to make into another game. I found it at a roller skating rink back in the mid-90’s and decided to play it. I played it using some of my old patterns and was doing so well that a few people were watching me. When I finally lost my last life, I entered my initials for the high score and turned around to see a big group of people who were watching and cheering. It was one of those special moments in life.

Thank you for showing all of the cut-scenes. I had a pattern for this game back in the day. My dad sold hunting, fishing, and trapping supplies and one of his accounts was a local campground and they had a tabletop Super Pac-Man so every time my dad went to the campground I got to go along and play. My pattern took me all the way through the "presents" stage. My pattern broke down in later levels though when the keys started opening different doors than the doors they opened in my pattern. I still got really far in the game and onlookers and the owners of the campground were quite impressed by my scores. When the owners of the campground finished their business with my dad they always came over by me to see what kind of score I was racking up. Ahh the memories.

This really is such an underrated Pac-Man entry. I'm glad to see that it's getting its due in arcade compilations. Though it does speak volumes about Crazy Otto being made into the official Ms. Pac-Man, and how it completely overshadowed the game's actual sequel like that. I have seen some of the cartoon series, but only a couple with Super Pac in there. He was voiced by Lorenzo Music, just after he started being the voice of Garfield. In the cereal commercial, he's voiced by Paul Winchell.

I'm gonna go a bit Adam Conover on ya on the cartoon series concerning Super Pac. ACTUALLY, before the Super Pac character was created for Season Two, Hanna-Barbera did produce an episode in Season One honoring the game itself. In the fifth episode, the first sub-episode, 'Super Ghosts,' has Mezmaron transform our Ghost Monsters into Super Ghost Monsters. After another early failure (the GMs being disguised as Power Pellet trees), our ghastly crew head back to Mezmaron's lair. Using a super potion, they become the Super Ghosts, and are ordered to attack Pac-Land until someone reveals the location of the Power Pellet Forest. Naturally, Pac-Man is alerted and not realizing the new threat, gulps down some power pellets to go after his foes. The next scene, we see the Super Ghosts terrorizing the Pac-Land citizens, with scenes inspired by Superman II. Pac-Man ends up saving his wife, Ms. Pac-Man (Pepper), only to have both of them chomped by the Super Ghosts. However, just as they are about to force Pac-Man to reveal the location, Super Sue realizes they are so powerful, they no longer need to contact Mezmaron. Thus they end up rebelling, and continue spreading havoc upon Pac-Man. Meanwhile, Pepper and Packy head back to his Security Office, where she creates a recipe for two Super Power Pellets. ('Either these will make us really super strong, or really super sick.') Note here, the two Super Power Pellets vaguely resemble the pulsating pellets Pac-Man eats in the game to become Super Pac-Man. Fortunately, they don't get super sick, and become the Super Pacs. As expected, they make quick work of the Super Ghosts, this time leaving only eyes and a cape when they get chomped. Afterwards, the townsfolk cheer Super Pac-Man as he is flying around, whereas a normal Ms. Pac warns him that he better come down. Just then the effects wear off (just like in the game) causing Pac-Man to crash-land into some trash cans. This was interesting since Super Pac-Man had debuted just after the cartoon series had come out (October 1982). So I suspect the writers wanted to do an episode roughly based on the game. Later on, in Season Two, the Super Pac character made his debut, voiced by Garfield's original voice, Lorenzo Music.

For the Pac Man cereal commercial, Paul Winchell (who voiced Gargamel in the 80’s “Smurfs” cartoon) was Super Pac Man (using a similar voice to Gargamel and Dick Dastardly; long ago he’d used it as the voice to his dummy, “Jerry Mahoney,” when he was a Ventriloquist)

I remember the first season of the “Pac Man” cartoon had the episode “Super Ghosts,” where the ghosts got an incomplete potion that made them invulnerable to standard Power Pellets. Ms. Pac Man had to whip up “Super Power Pellets” that enabled her and Pac Man to be Super Pac Man and Super Ms. Pac Man. THEN they could take on the Super Ghosts. The second season had Super Pac Man as a proper character, voiced by Lorenzo Music (who was “Carlton the Doorman” before this, and would later be “Garfield” for many cartoons). Super Pac Man would visit Pac-Land through a “time warp space hole,” and when his powers couldn’t help, he called on the Super Power Pellet. However, Pac Man knew the one weakness of this: once the threat that required Super Pac Man to summon it was dealt with, Super Pac couldn’t STOP chomping through anything or possibly ANYONE. This then required Pac Man to get Super Pac through his “time warp space hole” to neutralize the effects, but the space hole was smart enough to know Pac Man needed its help, so it gladly helped then.

I remember discovering this game. The cab was located in a small alcove under the escalators in Sears. It's the only time I ever came across one. I thought it was weird and challenging but never got to get good at it because we didn't go there very often and it was gone soon thereafter. Of course I've played it lot since, especially the 5200 port. The original controllers are not to best at maze type games but they do alright if you get used to it.

2:21 KC Munchkin is an excellent game and a lot more fun than 2600 Pac Man. That is probably why Atari sued them and not Namco. All the way back to Under the Moons of Mars, later called A Princess of Mars. Though I've read about 5 or 6 of the Tarzan novels, I don't think they are anywhere near his best work. It only became the popular work associated with Burroughs because of all the movies. I've read almost every novel he wrote, most of them multiple times. Pretty much all of his work is public domain in at least 1 country. If you ever have some to kill and are in the mood for a book, do check out Burrough's books. The book Beyond the Furthest Star is pretty short and a window into his writing style. It's on the Australia version of gutenberg

My grandpa had Super Pac-Man for DOS. We played it on a Tandy computer.

@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I liked it. It was the CGA version. Back then, I didn't know it was an official Pac-Man game. I thought it was a knockoff, since it seemed so different than the original. That and the fact it was on a hand labeled floppy with a few other games.

After Ms Pac-Man, Pac-Land was my favorite Pac-Man game. I don't think I ever played Super Pac-Man.
