Dreadnought (persistent. dreadnought - "fearless", named the first ship of this class) - appeared in the early XX century, a generation of artillery warships, a characteristic feature of which was uniform artillery weapons from a large number of guns of only large caliber (all-big-gun). In a broad sense, the term can be applied to ships of different classes, having this feature (battleships, battlecruisers, heavy cruisers, etc.), but most often this concept is associated with a battleship and is synonymous with a battleship of the first quarter of the XX century. The world's first dreadnought was built in the UK in 1906.
