fun fact: in a lot of these videos a guy called matyas kuti always gets the wr some time in 2007 then never again and just falls off, this is because in feb 2008 he got banned from the wca and he only started competing in very late 2006

I'm surprised they are still doing clock competing. The Ling Ao clocks that they sell on the cubicle I don't think are wca legal, and the only Matchbox 1980s Rubik's clocks I could find were being sold on eBay from Europe. Even the people who do have Rubik's brand clocks don't really explain how they got there clock. This event really needs to be replaced with something else.

I believe there's QiYi clock being made. Might not make the event faster like the Square-1 but it should make it much more accessible which could lead to many more people trying it.

They can be illegal for a few reasons. Some are very bad quality and the pins move without being touched. I have 3 and they all have dents in some pins but not others which is illegal.
