A Dreamcast, a gun, HotD II and a CRT was the peak of gaming fun. Developers seem to have forgotten the "fun" in modern games.

unlike most complete compilation videos of a youtubers work where you can tell how they've changed by how dated the earlier parts are, here Patman, your style is so vintage 2009 youtuber style that it doesn't feel like any of it is aged because it all feels aged on purpose XD

my first exposure to HotD was going to an arcade for my 11th birthday and playing HotD3 with some random older boy i met, who had previously dropped a whole roll of quarters to play the game. all my friends who’d come for my birthday party were playing mini-golf, go karts, and bumper cars downstairs, but all i wanted to do was play video games. it was the coolest and scariest game I’d ever seen up to that point, and I asked the boy if I could be play with him, and he was really cool and said yeah! we played for what felt like an hour and a half, taking different routes in the levels and dying at a few points just to pop in some more quarters and play again. i felt like i made a friend that day. Never saw him again when we parted ways, after we both died and ran out of quarters on the giant plant monster, and I remember laughing at the giant zombie sloth, thinking, ‘who on earth came up with this?’. it was a blast and HotD3 not only got me obsessed with light gun games, but holds a special place in my heart because of that experience. This video makes me miss being a kid, going to an arcade and making new friends over silly zombie games.

Man these games sure do bring back memories. I remember finally beating HOTD 1 & 2 for the first times and feeling so accomplished as a kid. Then the 3rd game came out and I was so jealous because it was only available in select places. My friend had an Xbox and had the demos to several games and HOTD 3 was one of them. We played that demo COUNTLESS times. Those really were the days.

Still fun as hell, though... just more difficult. "Haunted House" on the 2600 was my first horror game... hell, it was amongst the first games I ever played. HOTD2 was the streetfighter 2 of light gun games. The game was a benchmark for the genre, a pinnacle for the series, influenced many light gun games that came after it and the game that made SEGA a lot of money but had the most spin offs surrounding the title. While the other games in the series was good they lack what made HOTD2 great especially if you owned a dreamcast where it was a highly addictive game to play. Thx for the compilation documentary mr Patman.

The movie actually got a theatrical release. I made the unfortunate decision to see it at the cinema, at the beginning of the mid-2000s zombie revival. Sure was a stinker

29:25 Mr Spanky?!? What is he doing there? (Context: DDR PC character that eerily partially fits the description noted here... probably gone to the wind with a good majority of DDR's colourful cast and crew) 1:09:53 ... Imagine an English-to-Japanese version of this game. That probably would've really been popular to some extent with the language learning edutainment crowds.

(Had to edit to make the context thing grammatically make sense and not completely botch what I was saying with the first time stamp. ^^'') To be honest... an ENG-to-JPN version of "English of the Dead" (err... wouldn't that be "Japanese of the Dead" or "Curien Japanese" in this instance?) probably would've made me retain a lot more Japanese vocabulary, unlike whatever that Language Academy game on the DS was... =.= ... Also... I really would've loved to see how most of the games would look like if the Reflection system was used. ... And also how all of the ports would've worked with a similar format, to be honest.

It's a shame that Sega continue to remove gore from the newer entries especially after the outsourced Overkill brought it back. I maintain though that House of the Dead 2 not just a great game but is one of the funniest games ever made. 😂
